stop oomfie bc i been saying this, if ur dominican, colombian, or any foreigner moving to puerto rico while displacement is happening, ur literally a colonizer. i don’t care. if ur not boricua u shouldn’t own our land. puerto rico is facing major displacement bc of policies favoring wealthy outsiders, including mainland u.s. residents, who buy property after disasters like hurricane maría. this drove up housing prices and made it harder for locals to afford homes. hawai’i is proof history repeats. colonization displaced native hawaiians, and later japanese immigrants came as contract laborers for sugar plantations. over time, many japanese acquired land and businesses, creating a large japanese population today, while native hawaiians continued losing land and sovereignty while japanese people live off their labor. both places show how outsiders exploit land while locals suffer. this is why we must protect boricua land and prioritize our people.
