Gege talk about Megumi & Yuji The interaction between them & how he named Megumi Host:“Next is Megumi. He belongs to the Zenin family, one of the Three Great Clans, the Zenin bloodline , the type of character often described as a cool genius. Can you tell us about the origin of this character?” Gege:“Do you mean the origin of his name?” Host:(nods) Gege:“The origin of his name? it comes from shadow.’” Host:“it’s related to his ability?” Gege:“Yes. It was decided because he can use shadows.” Host:“He can summon shikigami from shadows, the Ten Shadows Technique. It’s a really unique shadow ability. At first, it was hard to read (hard to pronounce in Japanese ) so simply used the phonetic readings for their names” Gege: (laughs) Host:“So he’s in the role of a rival to the MC, a cold genius with black hair, a cool(distant )feeling. Jump has a lot of characters like that, like Sasuke.” Gege:“Yes, like Rukawa…” (Slam Dunk) Host:“Rukawa, Kageyama (Haikyuu), that kind.” Gege:“Yes, exactly.” Host:“But surprisingly, he doesn’t really clash with Itadori. I wanted to create a shounen manga protagonist who carries the parts I’m not good at.” Gege: “That’s also why I designed his clothes that way.” (Gege himself doesn’t really wear that kind of stand-collar clothing.) Host:“Does that mean you wanted to create a character you don’t like?” Gege:“Ah, I don’t dislike the character Itadori. It’s just that I’m not good at handling him. Especially at the beginning, it was hard to make him move.” Host:“Hard to make him move? 中国の5単推しの方からDMをいただいて、5の誕生日のために本当にいろんな企画をやったって聞きました 五条カフェがあったり、各地で300以上の大型ビジョンを出したり 本当に五条先生のことが好きな人が多くて、五条だけを推している人もたくさんいるみたいです I received some DMs from Gojo fans in China, and they told me they held all kinds of events for Gojo’s birthday ,a Gojo-themed café, over 300 large billboards across different cities… It seems like so many people genuinely love Gojo, they are the fans who only support him and don’t ship him with anyone. Gojo solo fans are really on another level. I wish I could be there too. Just imagining the food they served at the Gojo café makes me hungry. Host: But Itadori realizes that Fushiguro is about to stake his life for him, and so he chooses to end his own life. Gege: Yes. Host: And he even says to Megumi, “Live a long life.” Host: That part was really wonderful. It fully portrayed the friendship between men. Gege: Yes. At the time, I was thinking that if the manga got canceled, I would just kill Itadori like that. Host: That’s a scary thing to say. Gege: If it had been canceled, I was thinking I might as well just end it like that. Host: So it would’ve ended with one of them dead. Gege: It would’ve ended that way.
