A massive sinkhole has formed in Edmonton’s Lauderdale neighbourhood, reaching more than ten metres deep near 107 Street and 130 Avenue. The road has been closed since EPCOR responded to reports of roadway damage following last weekend’s heavy rain. One person is dead after a fire broke out at a three-storey mixed-use building near 132 Avenue and 82 Street in northeast Edmonton last night. Fire crews were called to the scene at 9:19 p.m., with the building housing businesses on the ground floor and apartments on the two floors above. The entire building was evacuated and 11 fire crews responded, with between eight and 10 ambulances also dispatched to the scene. It has not yet been confirmed how many people were injured, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation. Edmonton Police Service closed 82 Street in both directions between 137 Avenue and Yellowhead Trail to allow emergency crews to respond, citing “a collision and fire” in the area without providing further details. A black SUV was stopped after allegedly fleeing from Edmonton police and driving recklessly through residential neighbourhoods. EPS AIR1 tracked the vehicle from above as it drove left of centre to avoid officers. After the SUV stopped, three occupants fled on foot but were located and taken into custody by Canine and patrol officers with assistance from AIR1.

While waiting, he allegedly reported blurred vision and had a blood pressure reading of 210, and was reportedly given only Tylenol.
