Debating Cenk Uygur is no easy task. Refuting ten hateful lies in a row - delivered at machine-gun speed - is almost impossible. What makes it worse is how audacious and vicious the rhetoric can be: kill, murder, bomb, genocide - accusation piled on accusation until Israel and the Jews are painted like some grotesque old antisemitic cartoon, bloody, conniving, and responsible for everything. Then, the moment you challenge him, the tone changes. Suddenly he is the soft-spoken good guy, just fighting for liberty, freedom, and ordinary Americans. Cenk has found a modern vehicle for an ancient tactic: scapegoat the Jews, blame Israel for America's problems, and then use that anger to advance a broader politics of socialism, secularism, and American retreat.
