The Second Battle of Fallujah began twenty years ago today. Digging through some old hard drives, I found this interview I did a few days into the fight. It’s hard to believe it was two decades ago. For two intense weeks, we fought house to house, room to room—one of the largest battles the US had seen in over half a century. Uncommon valor was a common virtue. I’m immensely proud to have served alongside so many heroes in Third Battalion, First Marines, the ‘Balls of the Corps.” Today, I’m especially remembering those we lost, their families and loved ones, and all that we owe them. May their memories forever be a blessing.
