The story of America is unmatched in human civilization. It is the story of undaunted courage, of a bloody independence, of a Republic on the brink, of rebuilding & restoring, of rights being secured, and of sacrifice & liberation of those in the old countries who have lost hope. It is the creation of a new, American, identity. An identity that since the founding of our country has been open to those who truly desire to be American and adopt a wholly new spirit of being an American as our ancestors did when arriving on the shores of this foreign land. Theodore Roosevelt, an inspirer of men and a believer in the soul of America and in calling his countrymen to the highest of callings which our founding documents and our faith demand of us, knew that adopting this new American identity was necessary to maintain the fabric of our republic. He knew that anyone “who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person’s becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American…Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag.” As a defining characteristic, our American identity is second only to that of our faith. On the 250th anniversary of our country, a country that has secured more rights, alleviated more poverty, ended more suffering for more people than any other on the face of the earth, I am praying for a renewal of the love and desire to adopt that American identity that so many toiled, labored, and bled to preserve. To 250 more years of Independence and a revival of the American spirit.

We had an incredible week celebrating the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. 🇺🇸 Started at the parade in Fairfax, then a rodeo in Davis County, West Des Moines parade on the 3rd, and we closed it out at the Clear Lake parade on the 4th. We love this country, we cherish its history, and we’re proud to carry that legacy forward. A new chapter of our story is being written right here in Iowa. You can feel it in the patriotism and community we experienced. Thank you to everyone who came out. It’s the honor of a lifetime getting to celebrate this with you.

I am running for Governor to carry on that legacy: Of Iowans who run for office to always put the people over the special interests.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I’m ready to debate, but Randy Feenstra needs to be on that stage. Any debate that doesn’t include Randy is nothing more than theatre. So today, I’m issuing a challenge to Randy: four debates, one in each congressional district. Let’s take our ideas directly to the people of Iowa. If you’re not willing to confirm debates by next week, I’ll head to Rob Sand’s office and challenge him to debate instead. Iowans deserve to hear from the candidates. Let’s do this.

Two weeks ago, I challenged Randy Feenstra to a debate. Crickets… Our team just dredged up this old clip of me in college challenging then President Barack Obama to an Oxford Style Debate. Obama actually gave me more of a response than Randy. Can’t wait to challenge Rob Sand on June 3rd. P.S. Tune in tonight to KCCI at 6:30 to watch the final Republican debate before the primary.

Iowa is not for sale. Too much of our land is already in the hands of out-of-state investors - Wall Street funds and even foreign interests. What’s worse, we don’t even know how much. As Governor, I’ll require full transparency on who owns our land, take back land illegally owned by China, and make Wall Street pay, delivering tax relief to Iowa family farms. Our land is our legacy. It belongs to Iowa families, not global investors. Tomorrow, we’re announcing our Take Back Our Land Tour. We’re taking this fight directly to Iowans across the state. Iowa land belongs in Iowa hands. Stay tuned!
