Which makes it so disappointing that Emma Watson tried to both sides the Gaza genocide by repeating the propaganda that armed resistance against the occupation is terrorism and falsely equating it to the IDF. Even saying 50,000 Palestinians died which was not only a shamefully incorrect figure but she refused to say they were killed by Israel. An embarrassing activist that enabled the dehumanisation of Palestinians and has remained silent since.

Don’t forget Ethan Hawke who accused me of having an agenda for being against genocide just cos I asked him a question about Palestinian support being silenced which he refused to answer properly by playing the victim over politics. Wagner Moura seems the only one with a moral spine.

Nicolas Winding Refn gives an inspiring speech about how he died and this movie Her Private Hell brought him back to life as his declaration that cinema is back and resurrected. He mentions that politicians have destroyed the world and stole our money and caused suffering but it is art and cinema that keeps humans together as a shared collective experience. Calling for the theatrical release.

Remember when Michael Moore won the Oscar back in 2003 and was one of the first to bravely condemn the Bush administration for manipulating Americans into a senseless war with Iraq for no reason yet got booed by the Academy audience only to be proven right all along. Christopher Nolan and David Fincher both cited Terrence Malick as a huge inspiration and praised his visual language. Nolan stated, “Malick's influence on my work is very clear, and Malick more than almost any other filmmaker I could name, his work is immediately recognizable. His films are all very, very connected with each other, and they’re very recognizably his work but it’s very tough to put your finger on why that is or what you’re seeing in that. The technique is not immediately obvious. I think it's that unifying mind behind the films that really shows the unique nature of his vision and that he is a very controlling creative.” Fincher added that, “I think that with Malick you go to have something else illuminated for you other than, you know, what would it be like to get away with murder. You're going to see somebody who labored over something. You're going to see something that wasn't just the next thing on the assembly line. You’re seeing something that was thought about and meditated over, and you’re going to see this thing that's a one-off.”
