Pau Gasol’s two seasons with the Bulls were highly productive. He earned back-to-back All-Star selections (2015, 2016) and was named to the All-NBA Second Team in 2015. In 2015, he started the All-Star game alongside his brother, Marc Gasol, marking the first time two brothers were named All-Star starters. The game these highlight are from, set a new career high in scoring for Pau at 34 years old. He led the NBA in double-doubles during his first Bulls season (2014-15) with 54. He averaged 17.6 points, 11.4 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks over 150 games. This was a crucial late-career renaissance, showing he was still an elite player after his final years with the Lakers.

After nearly two seasons lost to injury, Derrick Rose made his return at the 2014 Team USA Basketball Showcase. I remember this being such a big moment. Those two years felt like forever waiting for our MVP to get back on the court. Seeing him back in a competitive setting felt different. It was a reminder that after all the adversity, he could still hang with the best.

2013-14 Joakim Noah will always be one of my favorite individual seasons of all-time. It was the definition of a dragging a team to relevance through pure intensity and willpower. After DRose went down with a knee injury 10 games into the season, most expected the Bulls to fall apart. Instead, Noah turned in one of the most unique center seasons of the modern era. On top of the stat line, he won the DPOY award, made All-NBA First Team, All-Defensive First Team, and finished 4th in MVP voting. Defensively, he was the Bulls entire system. Tom Thibodeau built the defense around Noah’s communication, rotations, hedging, rim protection, and effort. He was so smart on this end of the floor. Offensively, he evolved into a “point center.” The Bulls had almost no shot creation, so Noah started initiating offense from the elbow and top of the key. He was throwing backdoor passes, dribble handoffs, transition hit-aheads, and operating like a secondary point guard. More than all of that, though, was the effort he displayed every night. That’s why Bulls fans will always love Joakim. This was the ultimate culture season.
