Seal Sakura 🌸 (formerly known as Stamppot) came to us after being attacked by a dog on the beach. 😭 Sakura had surgery a week ago on a wound to her hind flipper, that’s why we’re serving her food like this. Will you keep your fingers crossed for her recovery too? 🤞

Meet Bonsai 🥺🪴🦭 She's very small and still has part of her lanugo coat. With common seals, it means they were born prematurely, making them more vulnerable than other pups. 😢 At the WEC we're giving her a second chance. You can adopt Bonsai here: ❤️‍🩹

Dropje’s very first swim! She might look a little lost, that’s because it is quite overwhelming for a young pup! 💦 Everything is new: the water, the movements, the swimming. We can even see that she’s starting to lose some of her lanugo coat, a sign that she’s growing. 💛

Sad news: seal Tangle has passed away. 😢 He was found entangled in a fishing net and, despite days of care, he was too weak to recover. A heartbreaking reminder of the impact of waste in nature. 🌊🦭 Please share his story to prevent this from happening again.

Great news: Pieter and Nami will be released tomorrow! 🥳 We weren't sure about Pieter, but he is not coughing anymore, so there is a green light! 🟢 Of course, we will share a video with you. Here he's playing with a hose. ❤️

Big news: Anton the seal moved from Phase 1 to Phase 2 on Christmas Day, and his release is planned! 🤩❤️ And you can join him: 10 January from 12:00 to 16:00. Tickets are now on sale:

Another entangled seal. 😭 This is the story of Jiyuu (Japanese for ‘freedom’), found on New Year's Eve. 🥺

Taaitaai has a funny way of eating: she first bites off the head of the herring, then moves on to the rest. She’s getting better and better at it, and since last week, she can even manage all on her own! Watch along as grey seal pup Taaitaai learns how to eat independently. 🤩

Morning update from the Seal Centre! 🥰 Dropje got a new quarantine companion: Pepernoot, our second grey seal pup this season! 🦭 Sharing a space helps pups get used to another seal: an important step in their development. ❤️‍🩹

This is Pepernoot, the second grey seal pup of this birthing season who needs our care. 💔 The naming theme this season is Dutch culture, so this is our tribute to the traditional Dutch Sinterklaas celebration that takes place this week. 🎁

Meet Oliebol, the third grey seal pup of this winter season. ❤️‍🩹 At just 14.8 kilos, he’s far too light for his 2–3 week age. Grey seal pups of this age usually weigh around 30 kilos. With the right care, we hope he’ll grow bigger and stronger! 💪 Adopt?

Jonas moved from Vliehors to Phase 2 (Buitenbad)! 🥳 He came in on December 9 and was probably bitten by a dog. He had a swollen flipper, but luckily no signs of infection have appeared. He also came with a damaged eye, that also seems to be recovering well. 🙏
