The facility, owned by the Wonderful Group of Companies, is now the second-largest urea plant in Africa and forms part of a US$641 million industrial complex. The project also includes an 85-megawatt power plant and an ammonia plant capable of producing 180,000 tonnes of fertiliser. Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, President HICHILEMA urged investors to prioritise the energy sector, highlighting its critical role in driving economic development.
