Southern symbols have been co opted by bad actors. Dylann Roof being one of the most prominent examples. It didn't used to be this way. You'd see rebel flags and iconography all over the place before 2020. Lynyrd Skynyrd, Billy Idol, Dukes of Hazzard, football games, NASCAR. It was everywhere. None of those folks were Nazis or Nazi adjacent. If you want to be a Nazi, that's fine. More power to you. Do it in Germany, not the American South. Don't use Southern Heritage to push a foreign ideology. Southern Heritage used to be normal. I want it to be normal again. Association with Nazi ideology or symbology is actively poisonous to that end state.
