1 onboarding screen doubled my retention. users who "sign... a commitment" before their first alarm stay active 103% longer than those who skip it. the best part: it's LOW friction and HIGH impact. almost nobody drops off on it. how to steal it for YOUR app: → one screen, before the first real action → make the user physically agree (sign, hold, tap) → frame it as their promise, not your feature pure UX psychology you can use to increase retention.show more

nobody at your company knows every path a user... can take through your app. you built the happy path. QA runs a few. the PRD describes one journey. users take all the others. we built atlas to map every one. point it at any iOS app, get back every screen and every flow through it.show more

Left has over 2.8K reviews on the App Store,... with a 4.7 rating my method for getting reviews is simple and it works. no dodgy tricks. it respects Apple's guidelines and the user experience, and you don't need to measure and stress with "aha! moments" or reward triggers I tried all of that before and honestly I don't think any of it worked. the biggest jump in reviews (and in positive ones) came in the last few months, after this change, I know because I track it here's how: 1. make a "What's New?" screen that shows after major updates. not after every update, only a few times a year, when you ship something big like a major new feature. I version my app as 2026.XX.YY so whenever XX changes it appears this screen 2. make your own review screen. show reviews from other users and community proof (if you have them!) 3. connect the two. show the review screen right after the "What's New?" screen every time, unless the user is in a cooldown because they already left a review this gets you 5 stars almost every time because: - it never interrupts someone while they're actually using the app - it shows up right after good news about new features, which shows you care about the app - only people who actually use your app see it, because no one else opens the app after an update two more tips: - notice the "Send feedback" button under the CTA button, pretty explanatory - after rating, people can close the screen or tap the CTA button again. it now says "Write a review", so they can add a written review if they want. never force it try it and let me know how it goes!show more

Vellum has launched Ambient Assistants, adding vellum assistant as... a floating pill on top of any Mac app, where it sees the screen in real time and can draw on top of it to point at what matters. Context that used to be taken from screenshots, pasted links, and long prompts now comes straight from whatever is open on screen. > Users can hand off a task by voice without leaving the app they use, while Vellum assistant works on it in the background. > In unfamiliar tools, Vellum assistant can circle the exact button, setting, or metric to use, directly on screen. > Users can show a routine on screen and talk it through, so the assistant can run it later after its plan is approved.show more

SOMEONE BUILT AN IPHONE APP THAT ONLY REVEALS WHATS... UNDER YOUR HAND the whole screen stays hidden you rest the side of your hand on it, the way you shield a keypad at an atm, and only the part your hand covers becomes readable lift your hand and it goes back to hidden > uses a multi touch area to detect your hand, no camera or permissions needed > he tried the proximity sensor first but it just turned the screen off > skipped the camera on purpose since asking for camera access in a privacy app felt wrong > fully native ios, with app clip and imessage support its insane how many simple but useful ideas you can vibe code in a weekendshow more

This sign has one job: expose who grew up... in the South... in about 5 seconds. To everyone else, it looks like someone dropped the alphabet down the stairs. But if your brain instantly translated every line without even thinking... congratulations. You probably had a granddaddy, grandma, or favorite uncle who thought this was the funniest thing on Earth and made every new visitor read it out loud. The funniest part? Once it clicks, you can never unsee it. From that moment on, your brain automatically reads gibberish with a Southern accent. Some childhood memories don't need photos... they just need a weird sign, a front porch, and somebody laughing before you even finish the first line.show more
