Kīlauea Eruption Update — Episode 48 of Kīlauea summit... lava fountaining began at 4:40 a.m. HST today, June 1, and is ongoing. This eruption is taking place within Kīlauea summit caldera in Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park. Precursory lava flows began from the south vent at 5:41 p.m. on May 30 and continued intermittently. Currently, only the north vent is erupting a lava fountain that is reaching 650 feet (200 meters) high. National Weather Service has issued an ashfall advisory for the areas to the southwest and northeast of Halemaʻumaʻu. Fountaining episodes typically last 12 hours of less, but ash can remain in the air for longer depending on wind and weather conditions. Please stay aware of hazards and rely on official updates from USGS, National Weather Service, and Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park. 🎥 Video of episode 48 on June 1. 2026. #Kilauea #Eruption #Lavashow more

One of Lando's 4 dive bombs yesterday. Coming from... far at 300 km/h, braking late to stop somewhere in Germany. Imagine if Max just steers right here to make the corner. The other big dive bomb was when Lando pushed Max completely off the track. I don't know why Lando was so desperate, but he was clearly on a kamikaze mission. Whilst he already had a black and white flag for track limits.show more

Every flight begins with a question: what might the... weather take from us today? After a few quiet days, a belated Christmas stolen back from the calendar thanks to work. I’m off again this morning from London Heathrow Airport to Delhi, flying the Airbus A350 east into a long winter’s day. It’s a blustery start in London, the kind of wind that keeps crews alert and aircraft honest. At the other end, Delhi may wake under fog, the sort that doesn’t just reduce visibility, but reshapes decisions hours before arrival. This is the part of flying few people ever see. Airline pilots aren’t just drivers of machines; we are risk managers and practiced decision makers. Before a single engine turns, we assess weather trends, probabilities, alternates, fuel burn, holding times, and the quiet “what ifs” that sit between forecast and reality. Fuel isn’t just about getting there… it’s about resilience. Options. Time. Margin. Add a little more for contingency. Plan for what might be waiting. Hope to use none of it. At 35,000 feet the aircraft will look serene, slicing cleanly through the sky, but every smooth arrival is usually the result of decisions made long before pushback; calm, deliberate, and sometimes deliberately conservative. From wind in London to fog in Delhi, today’s flight is a reminder that aviation isn’t about eliminating risk. It’s about understanding it, respecting it, and thinking ahead to ensure it’s accounted for. Right… coffee, weather charts, fuel figures. Let’s go. #PilotLife #AviationLife #RiskManagement #FlightPlanning #AvGeek #A350 #LongHaul #AirlinePilot #FlightDeckView #AboveTheClouds #GlobalAviation #WeatherMatters #BehindTheScenesshow more

"She Thought Her Family Had Come Back—Until the Shelter... Gate Closed Again The sound of footsteps echoed through the shelter, and a small Beagle named Daisy sprang to her feet. Her floppy ears perked up. Her tail whipped back and forth so fast her whole body wiggled with excitement. She pressed against the kennel door, watching a family stop only a few feet away. For one beautiful moment... She was certain they were there for her. She stretched her nose through the bars and let out a soft, hopeful whine. The little girl smiled. The father knelt down. Daisy's tail wagged even faster. Then the shelter volunteer opened the kennel across the aisle. A shy mixed-breed dog named Rusty stepped out. The family clipped a lead onto him and walked toward the exit. Daisy followed them as far as the kennel would allow, her eyes never leaving the little girl. She waited for them to turn around. Surely they had forgotten her. Surely they would come back. The front door opened. Then it closed. The shelter grew quiet again. Daisy stood there for another minute before slowly lying down on her blanket. Her tail stopped moving. She rested her chin between her front paws and stared at the empty walkway where the family had disappeared. No whining. No scratching at the gate. Just quiet disappointment. Imagine believing your forever family was only a few steps away... Only to watch them leave with someone else. Tonight, Daisy will curl up in the same corner she's slept in for months, waking every time she hears new visitors walk through the shelter doors. Because somewhere deep inside, she still believes the next family might finally be hers. Every shelter has dogs like Daisy. They're not asking for perfection. They're simply waiting for one person to choose them.show more

The champ WHITE ABARRIO doing great this morning, came... out of the race in good order. Can’t say enough about this special horse, his heart, competitive spirit, and the connection he has with his racing fan base. Yesterday was a great day for horse racing, three 7-year olds finishing 1-2-3 in a Grade 1 race showing the world these amazing athletes do not need to be retired and go to the breeding shed at 3-4 years olds. Something needs to change for the longevity of the sport, lets get back to racing and not so focused on 3-4 year olds with 6-7 starts hitting the breeding shed. Lets race! Congratulations to one of our favorites Skippylongstocking, now a Grade 1 winner and to Saffie Joseph Jr. and his entire team for winning back to back Pegasus World Cup. Congrats Tyler Gaffalione great ride!show more

I was informed that the team will be seeking... a trade immediately and will be working with me and my family to find the right place to continue competing for championships. I don’t agree with the decision and always believed it was going to begin and end in LA. Still, if there’s one thing that I have learned over the years: there are so many things that are out of your control, but it is how you respond to these things that you will look back on and remember. I have taken so much pride in playing alongside my teammates for the LA community, so thank you for embracing my family and making this such a special place for us. 2024 began with one of the best training camps of my career. Preparations start now for 2025. Highly motivated, as healthy as ever, and looking forward to playing elite football for years to come. Love you guys.. But coming for it all.show more

My pilot friend told me he gets a weather... update 12 hours before any public forecast. I asked him, do you trade on Polymarket? He laughed. Then went quiet. We were at a bar last Friday. He had just landed from Frankfurt. I was complaining about a losing streak on weather markets. Then between sips he said something that made me put my glass down. "You are betting on weather using weathercom? That is like trading stocks using yesterday newspaper." He pulled out his phone and showed me an app I had never seen. A wall of codes. METAR. TAF. SIGMET. Temperature to the tenth of a degree. Wind speed. Pressure systems. Cloud ceiling. Updated every 1 to 3 hours. We get this before every flight. Directly from meteorological stations. Not forecasts. Observations. Real readings from real sensors. Every pilot in the world has access to this. Aviation safety requires it. But nobody outside of aviation ever looks at it. He went back to his beer. For him this was routine. I sat there doing math in my head. If aviation data updates every 1 to 3 hours and Polymarket odds on weather markets lag behind reality, how big is that window? I do not know the exact delay. But from what I have seen trading these markets the prices sometimes feel hours behind what the actual forecast already says. That means someone with faster data could be buying YES at 10 to 15 cents when the real probability is already way higher. Not predicting the weather. Just reading it before the market does. I went home. Could not sleep. Opened Polymarket and started searching. If this edge exists, someone must already be using it. It took me forty minutes of digging through weather wallets to find what I was looking for. → His profile: This wallet started at -$47. The balance now: over $27,000. Every single position is weather. Temperature in Dallas. Rain in Buenos Aires. Whether London will hit 11 degrees on a Tuesday. The win rate sits at 76.6%. Three out of four bets land green. Most entries cost pennies. 2 to 5 cents per share. When the bet loses the damage is tiny, $50 gone. When it wins the payout is the full dollar. One win covers $500. Sometimes $5,000. At 76% accuracy with that payout ratio the math speaks for itself. I checked the entry timing on this wallet. It is not a millisecond bot racing against HFT. Positions stay open for hours. Sometimes a full day. You can see the wallet move and follow it. No server farms. No Python scripts. No race against latency. Last night I texted my pilot friend. Told him I found a wallet doing exactly what he described, pennies in, thousands out, all weather. He read the message. Typing indicator appeared. Disappeared. Appeared again. "Yeah. I know." He never said anything else about it. Right now a meteorological station somewhere is updating a reading. A pilot is glancing at it before pushback. From what I have seen, there is usually still a window.show more
