THOUGHTS ON 3 BALL STEALS 1) As a base... runner treat the 3 ball steal as a hit & run. You CANNOT get picked. 2) If it’s not a ball or if it is not hit, good chance you will be thrown out. 3) Roll your head to pick up contact to avoid being deked by the middle infielders(Somewhere between 1st & 3rd step) 4) Careful not to come off the base on your slide. Even on ball 4 if you over slide you are out. 5) Give the hitter steal verses giving him hit & run. On 3 ball hit & runs, hitters occasionally lose the count & swing at ball four. 6) This is basically a run & hit w/o a + jump at 1B. Our hope is the hitter gets a good pitch to hit & is able to drive the ball in the gap or walk if it is a ball.show more

Situations❗️Runners at 1st and 2nd, hitter shows bunt and... runner at 2nd steals 3rd. I am sure this was just a miscue but it’s a great lesson to show for this type of situation. If a hitter shows bunt and 3rd baseman breaks in, SS should be getting the bag. I always hated this scenario as a SS because you can’t shade too far up the middle incase a runner steals 3rd like this scenario but you also can’t be shaded too far towards 3rd incase a ball is hit on the ground to the right and you have to cover 2nd. If a 3rd baseman breaks in for the bunt but tries to get back to cover the bag on the steal, 9 times out of 10 they will be late getting there. Now, 3rd baseman can decide to stay back and cover the bag which is totally fine. It would just need to be communicated to the SS and catcher/pitcher before the pitch because SS can shade a little more up the middle and pitcher/catcher/1st would have to cover the bunt if it’s laid down. Every coach will have their preference depending on the game situation at hand.show more

I speak for everyone when i say no one respects your rank I actually dont mind playing into these people because they are inflated from cheese strategies so they will usually just end up inting the game away even if they get a small lead from it. The thing I help hitters with the most.. (1... good way to train it👇🏼) They start on time but never actually get loaded to GO. They think they’re ready. They’re not. So they start earlier next time. Same problem. —— This is a conversation I have with almost every hitter. When is the right time for you? - Based on your load style - Based on how long your load takes - Based on the pitcher’s velo, windup, or slide step —— If that’s you, try a “loaded at release” type load. Bobby Witt. Judge. Get your hip and elbow loaded early. Then stride with it ready to fire. “The pitcher is up there for 20 seconds telling you to get ready. Shame on you if you’re not ready to swing.” ____ If I have you in the cage, what I’ll do is have you get into a no stride position, get ready to swing and I stand there for 1-4 seconds… Holding my hand out over the plate ready to snap my fingers. When I snap, you swing. Do that 4-5x. You get the quickness, readiness feeling. Then we go back to stride with moving ball and you’re trying to time up that same GO move with the ball With your foot up in the air and the GO will make the foot go down. Not foot down then swing. That typically kills quickness. This works 95% of the time I’d say! —— > Send this to a hitter who needs it > Save it for when you need it.show more

This is something I’ve always wanted to change in... rugby. If both teams knock the ball on at the same time, why can’t the knock-ons simply cancel each other out and play on ? Instead, we stop the game, reset for a scrum and slow everything down. If rugby genuinely wants to compete with other major sports, we need to find ways to keep the game moving.
