"Yesterday on our way home, we broke down 2... hours away from home... on a busy interstate with three kids in tow. It wasn't exactly ideal, especially with a hungry newborn. I wouldn't get the baby out of his seat to feed him incase we got smacked by another vehicle on the highway, he was the safest in his seat. We called dispatch and AAA and an Alabama State Trooper showed up to help. I thought he was just going to divert traffic away from our lane, but he did so much more than that. He loaded the kids and I in his car and got us off the highway and to the closest rest stop. Sean stayed with the car to wait for the tow truck. He checked the bathroom for 'boogieman so Madeline could use the restroom. He shot illuminating helicopters in the sky with the kids while I made calls to try to get home. Major got really fussy when I was trying to wrangle my other children and calm them down from the evening's happenings. Without hesitation, he took Major out of his seat and gave him the bottle I had prepared from earlier. It seemed like he does that every day, knew how to hold him and when to burp him. Major even filled his pants during his feeding and the trooper laughed and continued feeding him. He then helped unload all our stuff from our car to his and drove our family to the nearest hotel. It was late, nothing was open, and we couldn't get a rental car until the morning. He helped unload our unruly amount of crap into our hotel room, told us where all the rental car places were, gave the girls a hug, and told us to call if we needed anything. For those who knew Seth, he was far more than a pilot or an officer in uniform. He was a husband, a father, a son, a brother, and a friend whose presence filled the lives of the people around him with love and strength. Seth grew up dreaming of becoming a pilot. That dream eventually became a life of service, one he carried with pride every time he put on his uniform. Those close to him say he loved what he did and felt honored to serve others through his work in the Air Force. But the people who knew him best remember something even greater than his career. They remember a man who was loving, generous, and kind-hearted. A man who always looked for ways to help others. Someone who could fix almost anything, who loved the outdoors, and who never hesitated to put the needs of others before his own. Above all, Seth was a devoted family man. His wife shared the heartbreak their family is now facing, describing the unimaginable pain of losing the person she loved most. In her words, Seth was not only an exceptional Airman, but the most incredible husband, father, son, brother, and friend anyone could ask for. She shared that one of the greatest honors of her life was standing beside him as he achieved the dream he had carried since childhood — becoming a pilot and serving his country. With a heavy heart I am sharing I lost... my baba last week. It was hard to come back home and not find him home. Being the first kid of my generation, I was loved by everyone in the family but my baba loved me the most. We shared a special bond. It’s unfortunate that I could not make it for his last rituals and something that I’ll regret forever but such is life 😞 He was a very jolly person, kids’ favourite and loved and respected by everyone in the town. He was 90+ and lived a good, fulfilling life. Humanity and kindness were deep rooted in him. May he rest in peace up there. His back legs weren't what they used to be, and the boys had to help him down onto the sand. For a second he just stood there at the top of the beach, nose up, taking in all that salt air and open water like he couldn't quite believe it. Then something in him shifted. He started down toward the surf on his own, stiff and determined, the way he used to trot to the door when the kids came home from school. When the first cold wave washed over his paws, his whole face lit up. He didn't run, he couldn't, but he waded in up to his chest and stood in the shallow water with the sun going down behind him, and the whole family just watched. Nobody said much. They didn't need to. They stayed until the light was almost gone, taking pictures, letting Baxter rest against their legs, giving him one perfect afternoon to hold onto. A lot of our rescues are urgent, but this... sweet little boy was in a league of his own. We found him with a severe neck injury from a piece of string that had been digging into him, but he was so incredibly terrified of humans that he actually escaped down a hole to hide. It took 36 long hours and the help of a kind local boy to finally bring him to safety, but we were never going to leave him behind. Today, that terrible pain has finally been lifted. He is still very nervous, but he is starting to slowly open his heart to our team a little more each day. The bravest little survivor is finally in safe hands.show more
