This video was taken the day I played through... the first build of the Neural DSP Archetype JM X plugin. We’d set up my amp rig in the live room and were switching between the rig and the plugin. I threw every test at it; does turning the volume knob to 5 create a natural response in tone? It did. Does a single note that’s held die out without a noise gate eating it or the “math” just giving up? It did. Do two notes bent at once with distortion on create natural harmonic overtones exactly like the amps in the room? They did, exactly. I had the engineer switch between signals without my knowing. “That’s the amps,” I’d guess. “Plugin,” the engineer would say, several times. It had fooled me. Neural DSP had done it. It wasn’t just a faithful recreation of my sound - it was the first plugin I’d ever heard that proved that digital modeling could create a digital emulation with zero compromises. I’d like to say that we went back and forth countless times, making tweaks until it was right, but the truth is that they pretty much nailed it on the first try. Only a few EQ changes and some changes to a couple of the effects pedals were needed. The thousands of hours of creation came to fruition yesterday when the plugin was released, and it’s been a joy to see and hear players putting this software to the test and being as impressed as I was in this video. I wish using AI was as easy as a lot of people think, but getting the the three parts of this took working on it with all of my free time, and I didn't even have to write it. Credit goes to moonlightbro. Fortunately, he's written another piece that I'm planning on adapting. But the pace is going to slow down a little bit. First I'll edit the three parts into a single video and polish it up. This type of my content isn't my normal content, but I wouldn't be doing it if I didn't want to. You should always just make the content you love, then you will never hate something that is supposed to be fun. This whole Malfoid experience reminded me of when it felt like everything wasn't shit and people were happy. I think I'll still have fun doing it even if it's not trendy anymore. One of the craziest use cases I’ve found for... Jev: verifiers. I am so excited about this that I at least wanted to share the high-level idea. I used Jev to build a custom verifier for the /goal feature in my agent harness. It checks whether the goal is actually complete after every turn, making continuous verification cheap enough to scale. This means I can run more of these verifiers (previously handled by another expensive reasoning model) more frequently to keep the agents on track. System One models are perfect for verification. I think of this as scaling harnesses further by cleverly combining System One and System Two models. I have a feeling this will enable a new wave of scalable test-time compute methods. Watch this space closely. I've just started to experiment with this and am already seeing really good results. I need to explore and figure out a way to benchmark it. I will share more once I have more results. This is an insane unlock for long-horizon agents. You heard it here first. And you can expect to see more harnesses embracing this new pattern. Create a Vercel AI Gateway API key, then save it to ~/.cline/plugins/cline-jev-browser.config.json as {"gateway": {"apiKey": "..."}} and restart Cline. 3.
