In a session on the Middle East with regional... partners. First, we need to ensure the full restoration of freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, without restrictions. Second, the events in the Strait have highlighted vulnerabilities that we need to adress. We should work together to alternative supply routes and new corridors, such as the IMEC. With better connectivity, we can transform vulnerabilities into opportunities. We also discussed Lebanon. Because a stable and peaceful Middle East requires a stable and peaceful Lebanon.show more

Fixed this small bug in Linear’s app today which... I often see in other apps as well. Here’s a small before/after. The issue: When you open a popover inside a modal (think a custom select), clicking outside the popover to close it also closes the modal. The desired behavior is to close the select on click outside while keeping the modal open. This often happens because custom dropdowns or select components are rendered in a portal. The modal then treats the interaction as an outside click because, technically, the dropdown isn’t inside the modal in the DOM, it’s rendered elsewhere via a portal. The fix depends on your setup, whether it’s Radix/Base UI, fully custom etc. But since you now know the cause of it, you can ask your agent to fix it for you!show more

Labor Premier of Victoria Jacinta Allen: “Australia is a... nation of foreigners.” Probably one of the most extremist statements I’ve ever heard from an Australian politician. She’s essentially saying that there is no such thing as an Australian or an Australian national identity. This is why people are protesting. People are alienated because you can have ten generations family history in this country and still be told that you’re a foreigner with no history, identity, or culture. This is so insanely toxic. The left is supposed to be communitarian minded but this instead calls to mind hardcore libertarian Margaret Thatcher type ideology, where she told people: “There is no such thing as society.” There is such a thing as society. The average human being is not a fucking calculator or AI chatbot. We are not all radically isolated atomised individuals. We draw from a wellspring of shared history, language, culture, customs, mores, religion, humour, manners, literature, canon. That is what makes up a nation, a culture, a society!show more
