004/100 Buttons. A bit of the process on building... an animation. When looking at a finished animation or in this example a finished button, it can look quite complex inside the CSS. But when building it, it’s more like a lot of simple steps, one after another. Here I had the idea to make some kind of text animation like the footer logo on the Osmo site. I try to add the base animation with no complex easing, for example transition: translate 0.4s ease. Starting with just moving the one text from bottom to top and the other text to top. Adding a stagger, play around with it. Searching for a way to make it more circular. On the research I found the sin() function inside CSS which can build a more smooth non linear curve for the stagger which creates this circular effect. And step by step adding more complexity like, different easing for hover/hover-out, opacity, 3D transform and more. I use also the sin() function to rotate the letters, so the middle ones are getting more rotated than the outer ones. Another thing which helps is to add a small delay on hover, for example 0.05s or 0.1s, you don’t really see the difference, but when you hover pretty fast on and out it doesn’t get that jumpy. I’m using here GSAP’s SplitText to split every char into spans. And then I’m adding a CSS index variable to every span, starting from the center. SplitText can provide CSS index variables, but you cannot tell it from which direction. Get to cover for a reload, don’t dance around, that mag on the ground is gone, try to be cognizant of your guns condition if you’re doing an emergency reload versus topping off... You can simulate cover with a barricade/change in elevation. Try to use workspace to get it done efficiently. You still need to earn that space back when the gun is back in the fight. We fight, assess, and scan. Take cover, top off, trade up, take off, treat injuries, talk to who needs to be talked to. Deliberately and violently. You look super tense. I think it’s time to slow down and start with the fundamentals. Everything else is a distraction. The drill itself, shooting from retention, is valuable. However there is work to be done to make this applicable IMHO. Otherwise it’s fanfare. I like to start this drill with my non firing hand on my head and elbow extended to the target in a block, then a single handed draw and shooting from retention that is high and tight as possible, otherwise you risk losing that gun. His speed is his biggest asset but it’s something he says he needs to learn how to utilise: “I might be a little different than the average player. I hit the ball pretty far and that makes it a bit more challenging when I’m out of position in the rough. We’ve caught a couple of fliers where the ball reacts different than expected out of the different lies and that makes it more challenging. But I’ve just got to learn from those mistakes and keep getting better. “My game is getting into good shape. I’m positive with the way I’ve been working on and off the course to get to that point that I can get the win. I’m excited for it and I’m learning. 30. If I’m being honest, reaching 30 feels a... little surreal. For the longest time, I felt like I wasn’t achieving enough. There were days when simply getting through the day felt like an accomplishment. Days when my mind was my biggest challenge. Days when I questioned my worth, my progress, and where I was headed. But turning 30 has made me realize something: maybe not all achievements come with certificates, promotions, titles, or trophies. Sometimes, an achievement is choosing to keep going. Sometimes, it’s surviving the days you thought would break you. Sometimes, it’s finding reasons to smile again. Oddly enough, some of those reasons came from places I never expected. Recently, #CarTon and #WinRi became little sources of comfort during my low days. It’s funny because I never imagined that following their stories and moments online would have that kind of impact on me, but somehow they helped brighten days that felt particularly heavy. Of course, I wouldn’t have made it this far without the people who continue to stand beside me. To my husband, my family, my friends, and everyone who has supported me through the highs and lows—thank you.
