I will stop right here for a moment. They are learning how to use a prosthesis and how to talk again, and they are taking time out to meet with young children suffering from illnesses. Wow. The soldiers asked this boy if he has any hobbies. He replied that he loves to take pictures, especially of birds. But that it’s hard for him because he is weak and he doesn’t have a tripod to hold his camera. The soldiers heard that and didn’t hesitate. So I have to tell you what is going... on in my life. This last month has been overwhelming for me. By that I mean that I just didn't want to go on after Vinnie died. He wasn't the first to leave me but he was different. When my illness got worse, Vinnie wouldn't leave me. I just didn't have a reason to care anymore. I started looking online at adoptable Chihuahuas and thought I had found one here in Oregon but was turned down because I couldn't take her for 2-3 walks a day and because I didn't have a large attached yard. A "X" friend found this little guy in Texas. The rescue has waved his adoption fee and my "X" friend is paying for the transportation cost. Please welcome "Tank". He left Texas this morning and should be here by Sunday. His family surrendered him (at age 9) to a high kill shelter and a small rescue was able to pull him. Now he will be with me for the rest of his life. He does have cataracts but I am hoping to find help with surgery through large discounts at Oregon Humane because of my age and with help from my Vet if he needs it. Right now he isn't at that point. He had two lumps removed and is cancer free. I hope that Vinnie would approve because Tank isn't replacing him. No one will ever replace him. I will let you know when he gets here.show more

I am desperately trying to provide the basics of life for my children, especially my newborn baby Ali, who was born in the midst of war. My baby has been deprived of his simplest rights… milk and diapers. Today, I had to make the painful decision to give up diapers for the sake of milk, because simply, milk is vital for his survival. But I found no other way except to put a plastic bag on him as a substitute for diapers—leaving him with painful rashes on his fragile skin.
