GLM 5.2 leads the open-weight intelligence index and sits near the closed frontier on long-horizon coding. But this leaderboard number is a weak proxy for real performance. It comes from one task set, run through one harness, served at one precision. The same weights can even score differently across providers, since many hosts quantize activations to fp8 and drift the model off its reference weights. Real performance is determined based on whether a model can read a repo, make coordinated edits across files, run the tests, and recover when one breaks. By that measure, the top open models hold up, but only inside the right harness. The teams that actually put DeepSeek V4 into production pipelines as a frontier substitute got there through the harness they built around the model, not by picking a stronger model. If you want to see this in practice, Cline (64k+ stars) has actually built that harness around open models, tuned so they run at production quality. I believe that StoryDiffusion has the potential to be... Animatediff's complex motion sister-model! While AD is amazing for granular control, micro-motion and all kinds of abstract motion, it fails at complex realistic motion - walking, human movements, cars, etc. StoryDiffusion seems very promising for this + also has characteristics that will likely make the community very receptive to it and likely to extend its capabilities: 2) Appealing base-model results - likely to get the community excited - feels like significantly better realistic motion than AD 2) Modular - their approach is built with a number of components that can be combined and taken apart - it works by generating consistent images, then animating them together - each of these stages can likely be upgraded, used and influenced in different ways. 3) Flexible - they demonstrate a bunch of different conditioning options 4) Likely easy on RAM - it's based on SD 1.5 + authors mention precautions to reduce RAM consumption 5) Built to plug into the existing ecosystem - e.g. the fact that it works with the SD1.5 ecosystem will give it a huge advantage! While it's very early to say - e.g. the video model hasn't even been released yet! - it does seem very promising. With 9 months of SD1.5/Animatediff-esque progress improving every element of it, I can see an an extremely extended version of this beating Sora + running for a fraction of the compute resources on a consumer GPU. Together with Animatediff to drive the micro-motions and abstract stuff, it could produce be extraordinary/otherworldly/insane/beautiful stuff. The short film 《AKUMA》... from Dreamina × Annecy honestly caught my attention because it feels less like a random generated clip and more like a scene someone actually directed. The prison wagon setup has such a strong mood. The warm light coming through the bars, the rough wood, the small chain rattles, and that subtle wagon movement all make the scene feel alive without doing too much. What I liked most is Saku’s reaction when he wakes up. It is quiet and controlled. He does not panic. He just checks his bandages, looks around, then notices the shackles on his hands. That small acting choice makes the moment feel much more real. The camera also keeps it simple, which works. Close shots, readable faces, little cuts between the characters, and just enough movement to remind you the wagon is still rolling. That is why Dreamina feels interesting to me.
