Apple has just launched a fresh legal fight against... a secret UK government order that demands access to encrypted iCloud backups. Here is the part most people missed. Rather than build the backdoor the UK asked for, Apple switched off its strongest encryption, called Advanced Data Protection, for British users. So people in the UK no longer have the option where not even Apple can see their data. Not because of a hack, but because their government demanded a key. The whole case is secret by law. I just send it: → the product → the ad style (LEGO, crochet, cartoon, Pixar, etc.) that’s it. a few seconds later it gives me: → a complete script → a scene-by-scene breakdown → Gemini Omni prompts ready to generate I don’t waste time figuring out what each scene should look like or rewriting prompts until they work. Gemini Omni's motion control is f*cking cracked i just... figured out how to turn 1 reference video into 50+ AI videos with the exact same movements... you have a video of someone eating, dancing, using a product, doing whatever complex motion you need. you feed it to Gemini Omni and it recreates that exact motion with a completely new AI character in literally one prompt i've tested this against Kling motion control and it's not even close. Kling falls apart the moment you try anything complex. eating scenes look weird, hand movements get mangled, anything multi-step breaks down completely. The newest version of our Almanac preprint is out,... and just in time for our demo at the Stanford AIMI Symposium 2023! Almanac is a retrieval-augmented LLM that provides up-to-date and verifiable answers to medical queries. Link: We benchmark our approach on a novel dataset of clinical scenarios (n = 130) evaluated by a panel of 5 board-certified & resident physicians, and demonstrate significant increases in factuality (mean of 18% at p-value < 0.05) across all specialties. More interestingly, because the retrieved data acts as a single source of truth, we find retrieval-based LLMs to be more robust to prompt injection and manipulation! 🚨 THE BIGGEST BOTTLENECK IN AI ISN'T COMPUTING POWER... ANYMORE IT'S MOVING DATA. Instead of laying new cables, Chinese researchers have upgraded existing fiber infrastructure by doing two things at once: Using three wavelength bands (C + L + S) instead of the usual two. Using four cores inside each fiber instead of one. Each core acts like an independent highway, and each band acts like an extra lane on that highway. Together, they’ve reportedly increased transmission capacity per core by nearly 50% and overall data throughput by up to 5×. This matters enormously for AI. Modern AI clusters move terabits of data per second between thousands of GPUs. The biggest bottleneck is often not the chips themselves, but moving data fast enough between them. If you can push 5× more data through the same physical cables, you can train bigger models faster and reduce network congestion. Why this is significant: • It shows multi-core + extended spectrum technology moving from labs into real-world commercial use • The system has already run over 35 km of existing telecom network • It could be especially useful for submarine cables and large-scale data center interconnects • China is also eyeing it for its “Eastern Data, Western Computing” project The deeper implication: We’re reaching the physical limits of how much data we can push through single-core fibers using traditional methods. By combining spatial multiplexing (multiple cores) with spectral multiplexing (more wavelength bands), engineers are finding new ways to keep scaling bandwidth without having to dig up the planet to lay new cables. This kind of breakthrough is quiet but foundational it’s the kind of infrastructure upgrade that will determine how fast AI and cloud computing can actually grow in the coming years.
