The LACMA has long been a great supporter of... initiatives in art and technology. From the original Art and Technology Lab, to more recent exhibitions like Coded: Art Enters the Computer Age, 1952–1982, their sustained interest in the development of creative and artistic practices in relation to the rise of computer technology has helped sustain a once controversial yet undeniably fascinating genre of art before it came into public discourse. I am so pleased with the opportunity to highlight an important part of my practice, known as parameterization. By changing one variable in the program, in this case the percentage of pegs to be wrapped by a string, we are able to see how the original artwork, Ringers #962, evolves over the course of 9 frames arranged in a grid. This process is what I call a “parameter sweep” and it’s an honor to present the combined works as the LACMA Iterations. As the artist who coded the algorithm, I had no explicit control over how the artwork would develop, instead relying on randomization and a deep familiarity of the aesthetic form to help guide the output through code.show more

DeeKay + People = DeePle For his new work... titled ‘DeePle The People’, South Korean artist DeeKay turns his eye to Hong Kong, rendering the Asian metropolis in his signature style. Characterized by nostalgic video game aesthetics and joyful tenderness, the 24-second animation is a buzzing celebration of the city. He renders Hong Kong as both a specific place, and a universal locale on the world’s cultural stage. Commissioned by Art Basel Hong Kong and Hong Kong Tourism Board, ‘DeePle The People’ will be projected onto the Hong Kong Club Building from March 24, from 7:30pm to 11pm and March 25 to 29, 2026 every evening from 7pm to 11pm. DeeKay’s artwork is also on view in his solo booth with AOTM Gallery (Z5) at Art Basel Hong Kong, as part of the Zero 10 digital art initiative’s Asia debut.show more

The Magic Whip 10th Anniversary. To celebrate, a special... vinyl edition of the album featuring brand new artwork and a five-piece capsule collection are being released on 25th April 2025. Includes, a green bomber jacket, red t-shirt, tote bag, ice cream pin badge and a Mr Ok umbrella. Visual artist Tony Hung has reimagined the album’s original artwork to create a special new red and gold album cover. With added foil embossed details, the new artwork edition vinyl is available as a half-speed mastered, single gold disc for the first time. "My reworking for the anniversary edition was inspired by a deep dive into the album’s lyrics. Here, I found more intensity, anxiety and a dystopian edge, all of which I wanted to convey in the new edition. Upturned, the now spoilt ice cream brought a heavier tone, whilst the cone suggested a tower-like structure. The idea of an active broadcast tower, soaring above the clouds felt oppressive and menacing, suitably setting the scene. The final cover art was achieved by juxtaposing the above with the vibrant aesthetic and colours associated with ‘lai see' (lucky money) envelopes; a traditional Chinese gesture, where said envelopes are gifted to loved ones during special occasions such as the lunar new year, birthdays, anniversaries etc. Perfectly befitting The Magic Whip's 10th anniversary, wherein our package contains the gift of music.” - Tony Hung On 12th April, a limited-edition, zoetrope picture disc edition of The Magic Whip will be exclusively available in independent record stores for Record Store Day 2025. 5,000 of you. I don’t even know how to... put that into words. When I started sharing my art and stories here on X, I honestly didn’t know if anyone would care. The AI community can be loud, fast, overwhelming… and yet, you made space for me. You saw my work. You shared it. You quoted it. You commented. You encouraged me when I doubted myself. This feels like more than a number. It feels like a second chance. I truly believe this might be my last real shot at showing my art and stories to the world, and the fact that 5,000 of you chose to follow, support, and believe in what I create means more than I can explain. Every repost, every like, every thoughtful reply has carried me further than you know. Thank you for standing by an artist experimenting at the edge of AI and imagination. Thank you for helping my stories breathe. Thank you for being here. We’re just getting started.show more

The Sabotaging Practice of Over Supply and Sameness in... the NFT Space. The current zeitgeist of the NFT space is that the same artists are doing the same kind of work five times a year, with project after project leaving a trail of disappointment and discontent among collectors and all of us watching in disbelief as huge resources are extracted from the space over work that feels like it could be left as an "artist study." I understand that you can do what you want with your money as collectors, but we are killing the whole space with this incestuous practice. No artist is that prolific to be able to do 5 collections of 100+ pieces each every year and actually deliver innovation and some kind of creative evolution. Of course, they can pretend play that the work has something new, but there is no precedent nor proof that that has ever happened in the speed that it happens in the NFT space. Again, people are free to through away their resources on whatever they want but with this way of doing things, we more and more are going to start seeing the consequences. Oh! There are consequences? Yes. Maybe unintended, but there are. Let's see. Let's start with the loss of belief in the NFT space as somewhere where emerging artists can come and find support for their experiments. Why even bother to bring experiments, innovation, and new ways to think of art on the blockchain if the same people have all the collectors hypnotized with their magical flutes? Why even try to come to a space where taking risks and challenging the status quo (the mission of art!!!) is overlooked? This makes the NFT space a social club and not a space for art. I guess it is fine, but IMO it is a recipe for disaster. New collectors stay away because the art will slowly but surely become stale and un-challenging. Why even bother to come and see what is happening here if you can't, as a collector, see new weird and up-and-coming artists? The amount of noise emitted by the same artists doing the same art over and over, drowns out any new voices. Again. A recipe for disaster. The NFT space is becoming a space of disappointment and doubt. We think that collections going to zero one after the other, over and over, is not damaging? I feel we are kidding ourselves. Disappointment piles up, and again, the people who will hurt are the emerging artists, the new blood, the ones who are willing to risk the most and, in return, put fire in this cold space of sameness. I love this space—don't get me wrong—it has changed my life, and I believe it has a ton of potential, but things need to change for it to become a beacon of light in art. But we need to support new voices. We need to support new ideas. The challenge is huge. I hope to contribute all I can to this change. I hope more and more see how exciting it is to go out and try to discover what else is out there and move this space forward. But again, I understand the leaps of faith needed, but if there is a space that is based on that, it's the NFT space...so there is hope. We will see. 📺by Boldtronshow more

April 30 • 12:00pm ET Art Blocks + OpenSea... “Gift of time” began during my residency in Marfa, Texas, as part of the Art Blocks and OpenSea artist residency program, where a distinct shift in the experience of time became central to the work. In the desert, I felt time move differently. It stretched, slowed, and became something I noticed. After a few days, the rhythm changed. Moments felt longer, attention sharpened, and I became increasingly aware of each moment as it passed. This work comes from that condition. Time is not treated only as a theme, but as a system embedded in the structure of the piece. Different ways of measuring time, such as mechanical cycles, calendars, and lunar phases, are translated into rules that continuously transform the work. The piece does not represent time. It runs on it. Its movement is tied to blockchain time. Even when unseen, it continues to rotate and evolve. When loaded, it synchronizes with the present moment, but it does not begin when it is viewed, and it does not stop when it disappears from the screen. During the residency, I spent hours thinking, sketching, and making connections. Those connections are also visible. Elastic lines, like rubber bands, link elements across the piece, representing how memories connect, how one thought leads to another, and how everything builds over time. These same connections introduce moments where the system attempts to pull itself back, as if trying to regain control. But it never fully resets. It is not a loop. The movement continues, drifting forward, never returning to a fixed state. Visually, the work reveals its own construction. Lines, paths, and rotations expose an internal logic, like looking inside a mechanism. The drawing language recalls diagrams, technical sketches, or the interior of a mechanical watch. It is a system in motion, always active. “Gift of Time” exists because I was given time by Art Blocks, OpenSea, and above all my family. It is my way of saying thank you. It is both a reflection on time and a product of it. April 30 @ 12:00pm ET on Art blocks & OpenSea 1 / 1 / 365 • 0.02 Eth Art Blocks, OpenSeashow more
