Last week I booked a last-minute flight and stay... in Cabo less than 12 hours to take-off because I was freezing my ass off at home, feeling like a “hostage” to the market. I forgot my swimming trunks and had to buy 2 of them for an eye-watering $450 USD (still wtf’ing at Grand Velas boutique)… And STILL, it was much cheaper than sitting around grinding it out when the market wasn’t there for me. Trading is one of the few professions where you can literally lose vacations/cars/houses etc AND, more importantly, TIME simultaneously while “working”. And so, I often think to myself if I’m so willing to part ways with my trading PNL, then why not just spend that on something tangible. I remember one of my biggest losing days in 2021, I decided to just buy the watch I wanted instead of waiting to feel “good” about my PNL. Our perspectives warp when we stare at numbers and desensitize ourselves to the true ups and downs. Whenever I spend the money it grounds me, “this is what this is worth”. Whenever I’m able to tip generously, especially in areas where the dollar goes farther, I feel more connected to my pursuit of trading for a living. Serendipitously making someone’s day with an outlier tip is one of my favorite things to do. Extremely hard working people who don’t get appreciated often, meanwhile we lose their salaries in pajamas… it’s madness. I just want to point out that I know people feel it, but don’t act on it. Try to exercise some of your freedoms as a trader and realize it’s okay to step away whenever you want and you don’t need permission to just do what you want when you want. I never imagined I would be writing something like... this again. This year started with hope—I told myself I would work hard, save more, and finally have a little breathing space. This is the woman who went in for a... tummy tuck and was reportedly given too much IV pain medication. Doctors told her husband she was brain dead, and he made the heartbreaking decision to take her off life support. But now the story seems to keep changing. Let me explain my experience. The first problem is... power issues in my area. Even when we finally get light, the ODU takes forever to charge. I’ve been charging it for about 30 minutes and it’s still stuck at 1 bar. The second problem is connection delay. I’ll connect both my laptop and phone, and it will just sit there saying “Connected, No Internet.” Meanwhile the battery keeps draining. And even when it finally connects, the speed is frustratingly slow for something that is supposed to be a Spectranet. For example, downloading a 30.47MB anime episode from Animepahe takes way longer than it should. I go just rest go sleep😭, to attend a meeting nko. I checked the outdoor unit, and I noticed something else: it takes a long time to turn green and spends most of the time stuck on yellow. At this point, I honestly don’t think I’ll be renewing my subscription this month until I figure out what’s really going on. I’ve already spent close to ₦20k on data this month, and I can’t keep doing that. At all.show more
