A person asks Sadhguru, “How much weight training exercise... do you recommend?” And Sadhguru answers, “Weight training is not useful, but do 25-50 Surya-Namaskars, it is complete exercise.” First of all, I am not sure why anyone would ask someone like Sadhguru, who is most of the time, in another dimension, a question on exercise and weight training. And secondly, Sadhguru is just plain wrong. Weight (or strength) training is one of the most important aspects of exercise regimen you can include in your daily or 3-4 times a week physical activity because there is great science behind its benefits. I advise my obese or sarcopenic (very poor muscle mass in advanced liver disease) patients to include weight training to improve clinical outcomes. The highest level of scientific evidence showed that standard muscle-strengthening activities were associated with lower risk of death in patients with non-communicable diseases – including cardiovascular disease, diabetes and lung cancer. Another metanalysis showed strong evidence for a considerable risk reduction of strength training for 60 minutes a week, on all-cause death (−15%), cardiovascular disease death (−19%), and cancer death (−14%). See here: here Sadhguru says the older we get, the better we do not weight train. He is again absolutely wrong. The findings of another systematic review/metanalysis support power (strength) training as an effective therapeutic intervention for improving physical function in adults diagnosed with frailty (poor physical function in old age) and patients with chronic medical conditions. See here: In fact, another study on strength training, this one again a metanalysis, concluded that strength training interventions can be used as a non-drug treatment for hypertension (!), as they promote significant decreases in blood pressure. See here: Strength training also reduces significantly, chronic inflammation as shown in another high quality systematic review and meta-analysis. See here: Resistance/Strength training improved muscle mass and muscle strength, thereby improving performance status. Improved performance status is a wonderful benchmark for an active and healthy life. See here: Even in fatty liver disease, independent of weight loss, exercise training was associated with 3 and a half times more meaningful treatment response towards lowering liver fat. Strength training is a powerful tool to maintain liver health. See here: and here Now Surya Namaskar. Surya Namaskar or Sun Salutation is a sequence of around twelve yoga poses connected by jumping or stretching movements, varying somewhat between various Yoga schools – which means, it has no regulation or standardization unlike weight training. In Iyengar Yoga there is a way, in Ashtanga Vinayasa Yoga there is Type A and B and there are other types followed by other schools or Yoga teachers. Along with the stretching and jumping, which is done is a slow and steady manner, the practice includes chanting a “mantra” calling out twelve names of the Sun God. In its classical form, Surya Namaskar is not an exercise, and is not aerobic. The energy cost of exercise is measured in units of metabolic equivalent of task (MET). Less than 3 METs counts as light exercise; 3 to 6 METs is moderate; 6 or over is vigorous. American College of Sports Medicine and American Heart Association guidelines count periods of at least 10 minutes of moderate MET level activity towards their recommended daily amounts of exercise. For healthy adults aged 18 to 65, the guidelines recommend moderate exercise for 30 minutes five days a week, or vigorous aerobic exercise for 20 minutes three days a week. Surya Namaskar in its classical form has a measly 2.9 METs and in its rigorous form (some people perform mutated highly active forms of Surya Namaskar to make it feel like an exercise) can go up to 7.4 METs – which requires a lot of jumping and little stretching and no time to chant the Sun God names - does not even come close to strength training by any margin. Those who are part of the Surya Namaskar and Yoga cult would provide anecdotal experiences on its benefits (please see comment section) through non-classical forms and would call it an “exhilarating experience.” Experiences are not scientific, evidence are. Many Yoga journals and some dubious and third rate Ayurveda journals have also have published on such experiences in small group of patients, which are not validated or published in better journals [like this junk here: There are no metanalysis level data to prove effectiveness of Surya Namaskar as beneficial as aerobic exercise or better than strength training as Sadhguru claims. Do Surya namaskar if you are doing nothing. But upgrade to strength training if you want something. And stop listening to pseudoscience peddlers who speak religion and culture for your healthcare needs. Sadhguru suffers seriously from Dunning Kruger fallacy: a type of cognitive bias, where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs because of the fact that they don’t have enough knowledge to know they don’t have enough knowledge.show more

A younger guy recently asked me a really smart... question: “What’s one thing you’d tell your 30-year-old self to do differently for health & longevity?” This one is a no brainer: I’d invest 5+ hours a week into MOBILITY training. In fact, I’ll take it a step further… EVERYONE—young or older—should replace most of their traditional weight training with mobility work. Stop chasing numbers, adding bulk, and risking injury! Elite mobility guys are ripped, strong as hell, and have unmatched functional fitness. More importantly they stay injury-free. So what’s mobility training? It’s exercise designed to increase: 1) Range-of-motion of joints (not the same as “flexibility”) 2) Functional strength & neuromuscular coordination 3) Skeletal stability (to repair & avoid injury) Yoga and Pilates are forms of mobility training but modern mobility training combines multiple disciplines. Just do a YouTube search and you'll find tons of videos and programs designed to address specific goals or issues (e.g. bad knees). Mobility work allowed me to avoid surgery and recover quickly from a severe back in injury in March. The video below is a basic back program that I do twice a day — it only takes 10 minutes and has been a game-changer. This is just the tip of the iceberg — I plan to go much deeper into mobility and hire a coach (if anyone knows a great one in Boulder LMK). I’m convinced that if I’d discovered mobility training when I was younger I would have avoided 20 years of chronic back issues and performed better athletically. 🤙show more

YOU DONT LEARN FROM SUCCESS failure, on the other... hand, is a great teacher (if you let it work its magic) we caught a doozy this week, with about 60 hrs of rework (I’ve had worse but it’s been a minute) A perfect storm of: -unreasonable customer -rushed precon and site prep -poor site supervision (on me) -poor training (on me) -poor outfitting (on me) -less than stellar execution -accident on site (spilled paint on concrete) Things that went well (this is key) -responsiveness and communication w customer -effort and attitude of site team Spent last night with the PM doing an AAR (post mortem) and now I’m in the shop on Saturday working on the team presentation and training, and I’ll be making at least 1 special Home Depot trip to add to our toolkit I’ll post the specifics on the training later, but these are the big organizational learnings that I’ll make sure we all eat/breathe/live starting next week: 1. Will never ever get upset about mistakes. Construction is messy and the only thing we know about each project is that something will go wrong - you’ll never be punished for doing a piece of craft wrong. Eg if you spill paint, I’m not going make you work for free for the 2 hours of cleanup 2. Site setup and cleanliness really matters; if we are going to be somewhere for more than a day - we need a trash can, work table, folding scaffolding for shelves, at minimum 3. The right tool matters more than effort. If you show up and you only brought sandpaper (forgot the electric sander), don’t spend 8 hours sanding by hand - take the time to go to the shop and get the right tool 4. Even if we have done a scope many many times, don’t assume that means everybody knows what to do. Review the project plan in detail beforehand 5. If things don’t seem to be going well (going slow; poorly; upset customer etc), stop and huddle quickly with your team and leaders to problem solve. We always complain about men not singing, well give them something a man would sing. Maybe they don’t want to sing songs that sound like they were written for and by middle school crushes. “Then you came along and put me back together. I believe they won't announce before the date, as Pi Network OM is a significant historical event and a revolution, making it confidential information. It's important that all pioneers work diligently to collaborate with CT to ensure that the conditions are met. 1. Complete your checklist and help your team with tasks such as KYC, migration, and liveness check. 2. Help protect Pi Network's security by reporting instances of black market account selling and buying. Provide usernames, public information, and proof to CT to freeze these accounts. Many have already been frozen, and increased supervision of policy violations will aid the OM. 3. Generate more GCV data through small transactions. Even a single transaction will greatly benefit GCV and OM. 4. The purpose of filing a petition is to make CT aware of how many pioneers are prepared for Pi2Day and the efforts made, as well as the security of the current blockchain. I can see that CT has heard our voice and is doing their job. If there are concerns about the pace to OM, it's important to use our judgement to understand why. Maryland school districts are now requiring teachers to potty-train toddlers as “Pre-K for All” expands. The woman in this video nails it: At what point do we just hand our kids over and say “Here, teachers — raise them for us”? Schools already do food assistance, clothing, mental health counseling, dental programs, health programs… and now diapering and toilet training? This isn’t “support.” It’s the state quietly becoming the parent while actual parents check out. And the legal questions are real — who’s watching the rest of the class while one teacher is in the bathroom with a toddler? Two adults present for every change? Where does that staff come from? This is the end result of treating schools like full-time daycare and surrogate parents. Parents: Potty train your own toddlers. Teach them basic life skills at home. Today they’ve announced the following changes: • Hiring: They will END their diversity "goals" for how many of each race they hire. Many (myself included) have referred to these types of "goals" as quotas because these "goals" often operate as quotas that discriminate against white job applicants. • They’ll no longer participate in the HRC’s woke Corporate Equality Index scoring system that forces the trans agenda into the workplace in exchange for a perfect score. They also won’t participate in other 3rd party surveys. • Supplier diversity: They’re ENDING the DEI pledge for their supply chain. That means no diversity quotas or "goals" will exist for how they choose or prioritize suppliers. Focus will now be on merit. • Their diversity team will be "evolving" this year into simply an "inclusion" team. I explain in the video how I feel about this. Pioneers Build Up Society Good Example Global Pioneers, how... are you doing? Today is Saturday. I feel very good. From yesterday, I started to change my routine. I don’t use my phone as often, because if we always use the phone, we cannot focus on our daily life. I do massage, clean my home—daily cleaning—do laundry, work out, practice yoga and meditation, and I also have time with my daughter. We go outside together. Actually, outside is very cold. The weather is around 20 degrees centigrade right now. It is about 6:20–6:30 in the evening, and you can see it is very beautiful outside. What I want to share with you is that it is very important to manage our daily life and our priorities. Right now, we really need to focus on our current life, not always put all our time on the phone. For me, before, I spent most of my time on the phone. I read a lot of information, I wrote a lot, and I answered many questions in the groups. But now, you may notice I didn’t post much these two days. This is not because I don’t care. It is because I am busy with my daily life and also spending family time with my daughter. And I think this is what we should pay attention for all pioneers as a good family member and society good example. Because for our GCV community and the Pi Network community, we have many pioneers—10 million, 20 million, 30 million, 40 million, 50 million, 60 million, even 70 million right now. I put together this guide to help everyone understand what OCM Genesis holders on Ethereum will get when they upgrade to Bitcoin (Hint: it's A LOT!) 👇👇👇 Before diving in, a reminder that everything you will see in this guide is happening 100% on-chain on #Bitcoin. Chapter 1: Viewing Your OCM on Bitcoin To view your OCM Genesis on Bitcoin, navigate to and replace the 09017 with the ID number for your OCM. My OCM is #9017. Chapter 2: Your Sat Page A sat is a small piece of Bitcoin. When you upgrade, you will own the sat identified on your sat page, along with all of the inscriptions on it. The sats your OCM Genesis is inscribed on are significant: Your sat is on Block 9. This is the earliest Bitcoin block in circulation. Your sat is on sat range 450x. Block 9 includes sat 450x through 499x. Sat 450x represents the lowest numbered bitcoin in circulation. Only 2% of Block 9 sats are in sat range 450x. Your sat offset is 178-XXXXX, where XXXXX is the ID number for your OCM. All OCM Genesis were inscribed on sequentially numbered sats, on this specific sat range. 450-178-XXXXX is a good way to remember where your OCM lives. EA Sports CFB25 released their Sights & Sounds Deep... Dive today and I am DISAPPOINTED! The main theme they use in the video is "Every Team Is Somebody's Favorite" and if you are going to make that claim, then I will hold you to it. My favorite school is the one I attended, Baylor University, and it has been clipped and used in both CFB25 videos with a GLARING mistake to anyone who went to Baylor. The Baylor Line is missing! Every year the freshman class gets a Baylor Line Jersey at the Freshman Line Camp before school starts. They spend a week learning about the school, each other, and our traditions which all leads up to getting a gold Line Jersey with your graduation year as the number and your last name or nickname on the back. Once football starts the Freshman show up hours early in their jersey to each home game and wait in the brutal Texas heat to be in the Baylor Line. Right before the game starts the freshman class runs onto the field in a frenzie to get to the other side of the field and form the tunnel that the team will run through. This is a tradition that is so crazy and dangerous that the NCAA outlawed it and grandfathered Baylor in as the one school allowed. The last home game of the season the graduating senior class gets to join the Freshman and run the line one last time in a double sized mosh pit to send them off how they entered. This tradition is near and dear to Baylor student's hearts. I remember my first time running with my roommate and best friend who both were in my wedding years later. I couldn't wait to watch my brother run his first line when he got here, then getting to run my last line at the last home game as a senior with my brother who was a freshman. I still take a video at every home opener to compare the sizes of the freshman classes, and because it gives me nostalgia and is the thing that makes me really feel that college football has started. So, with all of that, I am calling on College Football 27 and EA SPORTS to please add the biggest Baylor football tradition to the game. **HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT** When I started the Hockey Think Tank,... the first thing I wanted to do was educate myself on the youth hockey experience. What is the state of youth hockey? What are some things that people love about the journey? What are some things that need to change? I am so grateful to the thousands of passionate hockey people that have given me a new found perspective on the game. One theme that continuously came up in conversation was parent stress. Youth hockey, and youth sports in general, is changing so fast that it’s really hard for parents to understand how to support their players. Whether their kid has a dream of playing in the NHL, PWHL, or even if they just enjoy playing lower-level hockey, parents are constantly looking for resources and perspective to help guide their player on their journey. There wasn’t really much hockey parent education out there for them…until now. After months of preparation and work, we are finally so excited to release our Hockey Think Tank Parent Resource Courses! Our goal through these courses is to provide honest, neutral-party insight and perspective to help you as a parent understand youth hockey better and enjoy the experience with your player. We have multiple courses available, having something for everyone. 1. The Hockey Parent Survive and Thrive Guide This course is for all hockey parents to better grasp and appreciate the youth hockey journey. Some of the topics include handling parent FOMO (Fear of missing out), how to build a strong parent culture on your team, the importance of the car ride home, helping your player build resilience, and more. 2. Recruiting 101 – Male Players & Female Players For parents looking for more and have players that aspire to play high level hockey, we give honest insight into what that process looks like. Topics include college recruiting timelines, a window behind the scenes of a scout’s process including what they look for on and off the ice, advisors (!), and what you can do to reach out to coaches of teams you want to play for. The path looks a bit different for female players, so we created two separate courses. Here are the links.
