Carlos Jimenez, 24, of Ontario, is charged with assault on a federal officer and faces a federal prison sentence after interfering with lawful immigration enforcement yesterday. According to a federal complaint filed today, Jimenez pulled up in a Lexus while federal agents conducted a lawful traffic stop on Thursday morning in Ontario and began arguing with the agents. When told to leave, Jimenez drove forward, then reversed at speed toward agents, one of whom opened fire, wounding Jimenez. Doing it to help someone evade capture is obstruction of justice under 18 U.S.C. § 1512, also up to 20 years. This is not protest. It is criminal obstruction. Arrest them and move on.
