Athletes should be met with movement problems to solve... not given solutions. Take John Carver ripping 250+ foot single leg throws with a 16 oz plyo for example. This was in Fall of 2023 whenever John made a jump from touching low 90s to sitting low 90s touching 96.6. Spinny upper half, long arm action, bailing out towards 1st base after front foot strike were amongst things we talked about needing to be addressed within the throw. Single leg throws, overload balls, and long toss are a couple of the many variations we used. When designing practice the first question you need to ask yourself is how the athletes individual constraints are influencing the throw. The next question is what attractor needs to be destabilized. And the last question is how can I destabilize that attractor? Itโs not as simple as saying to fix the issues that we identified John to have you need to do xyz drill and youโll get xyz result. Skill acquisition is a constant relationship between perception of the task and environment and the individuals capacity to create action. Itโs thousands of reps of exploration with the right constraints applied that lead to the final outcome. 16 oz 250+ foot single leg throws are as impressive as it gets for a thrower so if you can do the same or know someone who can do the same tag me in a videoshow more

This is the part people skip, and it changes... everything. Look at the collar: dozens of perfectly parallel grooves flowing over a compound curve, then meeting crisp hieroglyphs and framed scenes without the spacing collapsing. That is not random artistry. That is layout, measurement, and repeatable process. In Egyptโs Late Period, anthropoid stone sarcophagi became a prestige technology in their own right, carved in hard, fine-grained stone with long offering texts and protective deities. One benchmark example is the British Museumโs siltstone sarcophagus of the vizier Sasobek (26th Dynasty, around 600 BC), described as among the finest of its type. How did they get this finish? Ancient Egyptian stoneworking is widely understood as an abrasives driven craft: copper or bronze tools, drills, and saws did not โsliceโ hard stone by themselves, they carried quartz sand and other abrasives that did the cutting, followed by intensive grinding and polishing. Now the question that should start an argument: If this level of repeatable precision was achievable at scale, what was the real โadvanced technologyโ here: the tools, or the workshop system? Time budget guess: how many person-hours for just the collar and inscription fields, not the whole coffin?show more

Snapshot of something Mike Vrabel expressed frustration with this... morning: He sees Hunter Henry (bottom of screen) trying to communicate with the official 15 yards away/do the right thing alignment-wise โฆ and still get penalized. โIโll have to try to get some clarification on that โ how we are going to do this going forward,โ Vrabel says. Earlier today, in his radio interview, Vrabel shared that he was irked with over-officiating at the line of scrimmage. โIf our guys are going to look over; I get that we have to be legal. But for as long as I can remember in this league, the refs are going to try to officiate proactively and work with the players. โIf itโs a hold, call a hold. If itโs defensive pass interference, call defensive pass interference. But at the line of scrimmage, if players are going to try to get the formation correct โฆ weโre not going to tell them that they are either on the line of scrimmage or they have them off? Theyโre just going to sit there and tap their knee? โI donโt know what that is. Thatโs frustrating that we are that literal as an officiating department โ if that is indeed what they are telling them. โฆ โI didnโt know when we were going to start officiating the line of scrimmage and not communicate with our players. Because in the end, the relationship the players have with officials, I think can be really positive and they can explain the mechanics theyโre looking for.โshow more

โ๏ธโ๏ธ๐บ๐ฆโ๏ธ How Ukraineโs strategic Deep Strike works โ strikes... at tactical and strategic depth: Preparations for launching Ukrainian long-range drones are conducted under conditions of maximum secrecy. Locations are constantly changed, and access for journalists is strictly limited. Any information leak can cost a unit its life. For this reason, the 14th Regiment โ later transformed into the 1st Separate Unmanned Systems Center โ has become one of the priority targets for Russian intelligence. The key factor is a strategic approach. The unit does not conduct strikes chaotically or โagainst everything at once.โ Targets are selected within a unified operational concept. In 2024, two large-scale โwavesโ were carried out: Strikes against artillery arsenals of the Russian Federation; attacks on airbases and aviation infrastructure. Among the targets were Khalino, Savasleyka, Borisoglebsk, and Baltimor. Part of these operations coincided with the Kursk offensive, which significantly amplified the effect: the adversary simultaneously lost logistics, depots, and aviation capabilities. SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL POTENTIAL FRIDAY NIGHT ******1ST CALL MAP****** ๐... Merry Christmas to YOU!!! A pretty sizable snowstorm is expected across the region Friday night, with snow developing as early as Friday evening. I am very confident in a widespread 6โ10" snowfall for a large portion of the Tri-State area, with lower confidence closer to NYC, Long Island, and the Jersey Shore where mixing remains a concern. At this time, I am keeping some mixing in play in central NJ/Long Island, but Iโm not totally sold on how aggressive it becomes. While 4โ6" looks like a very solid floor, several areas could easily boom to 6"+ if colder air locks in faster and holds longer than currently modeled. ZONE 1 โ 6โ10" OF SNOW This is the zone where cold air damming will be most prevalent, allowing snow to remain all snow for the duration of the event. Expect higher snow ratios, which could allow many areas to push toward double-digit totals, especially under any persistent banding. I could easily pull this zone into NYC and Nassau County as we see more model data. ZONE 2 โ 4โ6" OF SNOW This zone will likely start with heavy, wet snow, before transitioning to a lighter, fluffier snowfall as colder air works in. Some compaction is expected with lower snow ratios, but additional snow and mesoscale banding could still drive totals toward or above 6" in spots. ZONE 3 โ 2โ4" WITH MIXING This zone remains VERY uncertain. I could make a strong argument that cold air advection dominates, keeping this mostly snow and allowing totals to reach 4โ6". However, low-level warm air transport on an easterly wind may introduce sleet, especially along the Jersey Shore (east of GSP) and into Suffolk County, which would eat into accumulations. Iโll be watching trends closely as this is shaping up to be a sharp cutoff storm where small shifts could have big impacts. ๐บ On TV now with the latest on PIX11 Newsshow more

I graduated!!! I earned a Bachelor of Arts in... Sociology with a concentration in Psychology, summa cum laude! Five years ago, I started this journey with an eighth-grade education, and even that was from a Scientology school, where critical thinking was discouraged and the quality of instruction was subpar, to say the least. I did not get here alone. Thank you to NYU School of Professional Studies and Angie Kamath. Thank you to everyone who supported me, encouraged me, and believed in me, especially on the days I was not sure I could do this. And there were plenty of those days. To my therapist, who told me not to give up when I was told I likely would not be accepted into a prestigious program. To my tutor, without whom I likely would have given up at the harder points along the way. To all those here who have sent me loving messages on social media. And to everyone else who has cheered me on in person through the ups and the downs of it, it means more than I can put into words. It got me over this finish line of being a student again and graduating. That goal once seemed impossible. To those who have asked me, โWhy this? Why now?โ I pursued higher education to reclaim a piece of myself. When you come out of a high-control group like Scientology, or even a high-control family, there are parts of you that were never allowed to fully develop. Those parts include your curiosity and your ability and right to question. Education was discouraged because knowledge creates confidence in your ability to trust your own mind and navigate the world. That leads to true independence, and that would never be allowed. I wanted that back. But more than that, I needed to understand. I needed to understand how my mother could have us join Scientology when I was just eight years old, and how my family and I could be part of something like this and stay in it for so long. I needed to understand how these systems work, how they influence people, and how they take hold. Without education, access to real information, and support, people can fall into systems that work against their best interests. Some assume that because they are educated, even highly educated, they would never fall for something like this. But it turns out that is not necessarily true. What many of us are impacted by, but never quite understand, is how high-control groups operate. Many still do not understand how misinformation spreads, and how tribalism and radicalization shape what we think, what we believe, and who and what we trust. Without that awareness, none of us are immune. Today, we are seeing how these forces can influence good people and distort reality. History has shown us that this is not new; it just comes in a different form now. Social media connects us in ways we never imagined, but it also creates echo chambers that reinforce beliefs and justify behavior without question. Real critical thinking is hard when we are fed so much by algorithms designed to appeal to us. In learning and achieving this milestone in my own life, it has helped me take a good, hard look at my own beliefs and ideologies. This journey was about healing for me, but also about figuring out how to help others in whatever way I can in the future. So what is in my future? I am considering continuing my education and possibly pursuing a masterโs degree, with the goal of contributing to advocacy and policies that protect people, not systems. For now, I am taking this moment in. I am proud of myself. And I am grateful. Thank you for being on this journey with me.show more

Big win for open-source LLMs! DeepSeek V4 Pro holds... the top open-weights score on SWE-bench Verified, in the GPT-5.5 range. GLM 5.2 leads the open-weight intelligence index and sits near the closed frontier on long-horizon coding. But this leaderboard number is a weak proxy for real performance. It comes from one task set, run through one harness, served at one precision. The same weights can even score differently across providers, since many hosts quantize activations to fp8 and drift the model off its reference weights. Real performance is determined based on whether a model can read a repo, make coordinated edits across files, run the tests, and recover when one breaks. By that measure, the top open models hold up, but only inside the right harness. The teams that actually put DeepSeek V4 into production pipelines as a frontier substitute got there through the harness they built around the model, not by picking a stronger model. If you want to see this in practice, Cline (64k+ stars) has actually built that harness around open models, tuned so they run at production quality. And it's tuned so that these LLMs can run at production quality, with plan and act modes, checkpoints, and terminal feedback. ClinePass is the new access layer on top of it. It runs a curated set of those models inside Cline, narrowed to the ones tested for coding-agent use, with 2 to 5x the standard rate limits and no separate provider accounts, keys, or billing to track. The video below shows the setup, and I worked with the team to put this together. It runs alongside custom keys and local models as well, not in place of them.show more

๐จ SCIENTISTS JUST SHOWED THAT LIGHT CAN TWIST MATTER... USING ITS MAGNETIC FIELD. For a long time, physicists assumed the magnetic component of light was far too weak to have any meaningful effect on matter compared to its electric field. New experiments are challenging that view. Researchers have demonstrated that intense, properly structured light can induce magnetization and even mechanical twisting in materials through its magnetic field alone. This is an extension of the inverse Faraday effect, but observed with greater strength and control than many expected. Why this matters: โข It opens new ways to control magnetism and material properties using only light โข Could lead to faster, more energy-efficient magnetic memory and spintronic devices โข Offers a new tool for manipulating matter at the nanoscale without physical contact โข Bridges optics and magnetism in ways that were previously difficult to achieve The deeper implication: Light is not just an information carrier under the right conditions, its magnetic field can directly reshape the magnetic and mechanical state of matter. This blurs the line between electromagnetic waves and material control. If these effects can be scaled and made practical, we may eventually use light itself as a precise tool to write magnetic information or mechanically actuate tiny structures, rather than relying solely on electric currents or physical forces. Weโre discovering that light still has hidden capabilities we havenโt fully exploited. How do you think being able to control matter with lightโs magnetic field could change technology in the next decade? Follow for more frontier optics, quantum materials, and light-matter physics.show more
