I found an old screen recording from my iPhone... 11 Pro Max with iOS 17 Decided to compare the animations to my iPhone 17 with iOS 27, and I have so many thoughts 😭 Overall, iOS 17 is INFINITELY smoother than iOS 27, purely due to its animation speed. Opening and closing apps is slow and elegant, accompanied by a beautiful wallpaper zoom. 27 is rough, fast, and lacks fluidity. For some reason, they got rid of the wallpaper zoom when opening/closing apps, making everything feel flat. All of that is paired with the atrocious performance of the iOS screen recorder that started with iOS 18 and still hasn’t been fixed. Notice how there are zero jitters on iOS 17, but both jitters and artifact on 27. This is not a hate post. I just wanted to share my thoughts. And no, this isn’t the problem of a “beta”. I’m just gonna say it: I’m disappointed with iOS... 27. - It is fast, sure. - It is snappy too. - It fixes many bugs that were there since iOS 26. - It improves Liquid Glass drastically. The problem is, when I heard at WWDC26 that Apple is making iOS 27 all about optimization and polish, I was expecting iOS to return to its former glory of iOS 15. But, iOS 27 is not even 70% polished as iOS 15 was. There’s so many little things and attention to details that iOS 15 had and iOS 27 simply doesn’t. Here’s a few examples: - When you picked up a call before the contact poster update in iOS 17, using the swipe gesture, the swipe indicator itself transitions into the red hang-up button. Smoothly. On iOS 27, there’s no such transition. It just happens. - On iOS 27, the Photos app is still very slow and janky in the Collections tab. It takes several seconds for everything to load. - Just look at the Safari below. It’s just so smooth, flowy, and animations are designed so well before the Liquid Glass update. iOS 27 Safari feels like a huge downgrade. I was expecting iOS 27 to work on these little details around the system that have been going away since iOS 16. But it didn’t.show more

Highlight colors missing, dividers disappearing, labels jumping around, animations feeling jerky, clicks not registering. There isn’t a single line of SwiftUI here, this... is a pure UIKit implementation on iOS 18. A fully custom navigation bar that hooks into the nearest UIScrollView to show the scroll-edge effect only once the user starts scrolling. Buttons are fully custom and display a nice brightness effect (CAFilter) when touched.show more

My initial problem with Liquid Glass was that it... was terrible for accessibility despite how beautiful it looks it certain places. There is literally only one way to solve this readability issue – make the glass frosted/opaque. And from the public backlash that Apple received it was pretty obvious that it was a matter of time before they made this change. The problem now is that when you make it opaque, it barely looks any different from iOS 18, yet it keeps eating up resources and draining your battery. 3 betas in, and I still feel like this design direction was a big mistake.show more

Hot Take: The New Camera app on iOS 26... is GREAT i initially hated it when i first saw it on the keynote, but now that i've used it, I'm loving it It’s familiar while being really simple I've always felt that the Camera app on iOS has gotten really complex and convoluted in these last few years, and the new one fixes that, while still being as nuanced as the old app if you configure it the way you want it to behave takes some time to get used to, but this is great, it really does simplify the whole Ul but, this could've been the perfect time for Apple to introduce Manual controls as an Option in the Native app, even after all this redesign, Apple is still stubborn on not adding Manual Controls it's 2025 Apple,if you're gonna let users shoot LOG Video from the Native App, let us have Manual Controls as an option in the Native App, instead of downloading third party apps👏 i wonder how people shoot LOG Videos without Manual Controls💀show more

I think seawater did something… strange to my iPhone... 17 Pro Max charging port. Now when I plug in the charger and turn on the switch at the same time, it shows charging a bit late compared to the iPhone 16 Pro Max and 15 Pro Max. Today I also noticed it does not charge at all with a 25W charger, but it works with 45W and 65W chargers. Should I go to the Apple Store and replace the charging port, or just use the chargers that work? Will this problem get worse over time?show more
