Humble day for a cardiologist… A patient of 44... years came with an axillary chest pain and scapular pain. (I have indicated the pain sites in the accompanying picture). He has had diabetes for the past three years and also has a family history of heart disease. He is not a smoker and doesn’t have any other coronary risk factors. His ECG, ECHO and TMT were normal. Because the pain was atypical and non-exertional and his non-invasive testing was normal, I prescribed medication and sent him home. He came back again with more severe pain at the same site after a month, and again, the ECG and Troponin were normal. I reassured him once more. He came back the next day (last Saturday) with the same complaints, but this time I suggested doing an angiogram to investigate the persistent pain. What I found was a 90% lesion in the PLV artery. I stented the vessel, and he experienced total relief from his chest pain. Physicians and cardiologists should be willing to modify their diagnosis when the initial line of management does not provide clinical benefit to the patient. He was falsely accused of killing two white girls without a single piece of solid evidence, simply because he was the last person seen with them. He wasn't allowed to see his family, was interrogated without a lawyer, and "confessed" under pressure and fear. His trial lasted only a few hours with an all-white jury. Just 81 days after his arrest, he was executed in the electric chair. He was so small that his feet didn't reach the floor, so they had to place a Bible under him to make the straps fit. The most shocking part: he was innocent. In 2014, seventy years later, a court officially overturned the conviction and declared him innocent. But George never came back. so jihoon didnt know jaehyuk kicked him. he jus... thought something dropped on him 😭 🐶 I only found out from watching the video that Jaehyuk kicked me when he woke up. at the time, I did feel like I got hit by something, but I never thought it was Jaehyuk. I thought something just fell, like maybe a light fixture or something 🐶 but turns out, he kicked me with his foot. I didn’t realize it at all. I was half asleep thinking “did something fall? did the light drop or something?” but it was actually him kicking me. I couldn’t really see either. my eyes were sensitive, dry, and kind of blinded, so I didn’t even notice it was Jaehyuk 🐶 I seriously just thought something fell on me. If I had known, I would’ve immediately put him in a headlock, but since I didn’t know, I let it slide. The past year has seen me have a renaissance,... in the truest sense… I won’t go into details now but will at some point before long. What has brought so much happiness to my life and those around me this past year has been my falling back in love with sport. Cycling has, and always will be, my number one. Yet I’d forgotten that I simply love sport, not for results but for the sheer joy of doing it, I’d completely forgotten that the health of my mind is intrinsically connected to the health of my body. I’ve rediscovered the love I had for sport that existed before the world of professional cycling took over in the way it did. I’ve been pushing myself and trying new things this past year, indifferent to the results, just out having fun and at times going deeper than I thought I was capable of anymore. Last week I got on a TT bike for the first time in a decade, Factor Bikes built me a bike, I’ve been looking at it for two years and decided it was time to get fitted, getting back on it felt like going home. Anyway, the long and the short of this is that it’s inspired me to create a club to inspire and be inspired. A community for us to share our love for getting out there and doing it, because I’ve realized that although I spend most of my sporting life on my own I derive the most pleasure when feeling part of something. It’s in its early days, I’ve called it Sporting Club CHPT3 aka SCC3, I’d love you to check it out and join.
