Why Hyderabad Drowns After A 20min Rain? I may... not have a simple answer to this complex question but was in Raidurgam area yesterday and this what I saw. This is right next to the Raidurgam metro. It is like the IT hub of Hyderabad and look at the state of things here. Roads are being dug to lay drainage pipes. Locals told me it has been close to a year since they started digging. The debris is just lying on the road, existing drainage seems to be damaged and all the sewer is flowing on to the main road. To make things worse, many are parking right on the road making the congested area much more difficult to commute. There is no parking space at Raidurgam Metro. If someone wants to take the metro, they have to arrive on a separate vehicle to reach. Plus there are a million autos lined up on the road. Traffic police who hide behind trees or corner you in some random street won’t regulate traffic on the main roads. They won’t show a solution to park vehicles but will collect challans. Why are you collecting challans without any space being earmarked for parking? Do you expect people to jump off a parachute and get into a metro? We look at China, Japan with their advanced technology of laying roads in a day and will be wowed. Here governments talk about AI city, Future City and such money minting projects for the government and still get wowed. Why isn’t AI or advanced technology being used to repair roads, drainages or maintain infrastructure in the existing city??? Today marks 21 straight days of our family’s West... Coast road trip in the Cybertruck. So far we’ve driven 3,493 miles, and every mile has reminded me why I believe this is THE greatest road-trip vehicle ever built. After 21 straight days on the road, it’s needed zero maintenance, just charging and going, like a phone. The combination of the Cybertruck, Tesla’s Supercharger network, and FSD completely changes what a road trip feels like. After 3,493 miles and 21 consecutive days behind the wheel, I can honestly say I’ve never experienced anything like it. My 2nd trip to Memphis is almost over and... I’ve again really enjoyed my time here. So I felt the need to say something, especially after what LeBron said today. This city often gets a very bad rep and I’ve experienced that myself. Players shitting on it, media saying it’s dangerous, people asking me why I’d go here because I wouldn’t be safe, I’ve heard it all. All those people couldn’t be more wrong. This is a city very different from other “typical American cities”. Memphis has it’s own identity, an identity that makes it special. Memphis is a very warm and welcoming city. From the second my first trip started last year I’ve felt welcomed by the people. In the Fedexforum, on the streets, in the airport, in my hotel. My experiences have been nothing but positive. Not once have I felt unsafe or anything remotely close to it, not in my week long stay last year and also not in my almost 2 week long stay this year. Now of course every city has its weaknesses and room for improvement. And that’s where I have to give a lot of credit to the mayor and the people who run this city. Even in the year between my trips there has been clear improvement. The streets are cleaner, there’s roadwork being done and downtown is noticeably more lively compared to last year. Don’t let people who have never been here tell you what and how this city is. Memphis is a unique and beautiful city, Memphis is Memphis. I have truly loved my time here and I can’t wait to keep coming back in the future. But first one more game against Toronto tomorrow.show more

The past year has seen me have a renaissance,... in the truest sense… I won’t go into details now but will at some point before long. What has brought so much happiness to my life and those around me this past year has been my falling back in love with sport. Cycling has, and always will be, my number one. Yet I’d forgotten that I simply love sport, not for results but for the sheer joy of doing it, I’d completely forgotten that the health of my mind is intrinsically connected to the health of my body. I’ve rediscovered the love I had for sport that existed before the world of professional cycling took over in the way it did. I’ve been pushing myself and trying new things this past year, indifferent to the results, just out having fun and at times going deeper than I thought I was capable of anymore. Last week I got on a TT bike for the first time in a decade, Factor Bikes built me a bike, I’ve been looking at it for two years and decided it was time to get fitted, getting back on it felt like going home. Anyway, the long and the short of this is that it’s inspired me to create a club to inspire and be inspired. A community for us to share our love for getting out there and doing it, because I’ve realized that although I spend most of my sporting life on my own I derive the most pleasure when feeling part of something. It’s in its early days, I’ve called it Sporting Club CHPT3 aka SCC3, I’d love you to check it out and join. China is my 61st country 🇨🇳 I’ve spent 2... days in Shenzhen and here’s what amazed me: - Scale! Everything is huge. The city itself is 2x Hong Kong size or 33% Canada size. It easily takes 30-50 min by car or tube to go from one area to another. - Very high tech. Robot deliveries for in-room dining, drones delivering food in the parks, 10 stories robotics markets. - There are also robocard without drivers in some areas but I didn’t have time to try it. - Extremely green. Shenzhen pioneers the concept of harmony between nature and urban planning. It’s basically a city embedded into mountains, sea and greenery. Parks everywhere. - Immaculately clean everywhere from streets to casual eateries. Very high contrast with Yangshuo where I was before. - High patriotism and love for the country & people in every detail. Looks like a great city to live in. - Though nothing is equipped for handicapped people - in general saw this across China so far - The city is very young - only 49 years old. And looks like the population is very young, too. I’ve seen maybe 5% of people over 50 years old on the streets. the only place in China so far where I was constantly asked for Chinese phone number for payments. Still don’t know why. - Very limited English, despite high tech and education. Hotel / restaurant staff didn’t speak at all. Almost no English explanations in museums even - to me it feels like a statement that West is not needed here - Smoking cult. Everywhere, even the room in my non-smoking hotel smelled of cigarettes - A lot of parks, squares and communal areas where people do sports, dance, sing and socialise - Incredible architecture! 🚨Congestion Pricing and NYC’s Self-Inflicted Wound: Are Bus and... Bike Lanes Making Things Worse? As a lifelong New Yorker and daily driver, I’m seeing our city’s streets become more congested, less safe, and now, more costly—all thanks to street design choices that haven’t delivered on their promises. With congestion pricing on the way, drivers will soon have to pay extra for navigating roads that are bottlenecked by bike lanes, bus lanes, and pedestrian plazas. These were meant to relieve traffic and improve safety but have done the opposite. Areas like 6th Avenue, Lower Manhattan, and the West Village have seen car lanes disappear, replaced by underused bike lanes and additional bus lanes, making traffic worse. Parking is now dangerously close to bike lanes, where drivers risk being struck as they exit their vehicles. Meanwhile, bike lanes—used mainly in the warmer months—eat up space all year, adding to traffic problems without a year-round payoff. And for pedestrians, the situation isn’t much better. Crosswalks have become hazardous, with cyclists often ignoring stoplights and pedestrians’ right-of-way. What was meant to be a safer design has instead put walkers in harm’s way. Then there are the pedestrian plazas, such as those in Times Square and along Broadway. Intended as public spaces, they’ve funneled more traffic into surrounding streets and often become gathering points for crime, drug use, and loitering. What was supposed to create safe communal spaces has instead added congestion and security concerns to nearby areas. All this comes at a time when New Yorkers are already stretched thin.
