🚗 Another Vehicle Dumped on Our Streets Following the... successful removal of the Renault truck, we now have another vehicle that appears to have been dumped, this time at the junction of Coleshill Road and Ventnor Avenue. The vehicle is visibly damaged and has been left in a position that is causing an obstruction close to the junction. While England does not yet have the same widespread pavement parking restrictions seen in London or Scotland, parking that causes an obstruction or creates a danger to other road users is a separate matter. As your local councillor, I will be reporting this vehicle to the local police so that appropriate action can be taken. If you are the owner of this vehicle, I strongly urge you to remove it immediately before enforcement action is considered. Our streets are not a dumping ground for abandoned or damaged vehicles. 71 Children found in a sewer tunnel... "The Nyack... Fire Department, Hatzoloh, and Chaveirim responded after 71 children became stranded in a sewer system while following a creek during a hike. According to Nyack Mayor Joe Rand speaking to Rockland Daily, the group began at Memorial Park and followed a creek that eventually led them into an underground section. The children reportedly continued exploring for roughly a quarter mile, reaching the area near downtown before becoming confused and unable to find their way back. At some point, a person inside a nearby restaurant noticed the children below ground and called 911. Emergency crews responded and were able to safely locate and rescue all of the children without injury. All participants have since been accounted for. What about labor?!?! The biggest pushback we get on... timber framing is "my labor tho!" Yes, timber framing takes time. Yes, it takes a little more skill than stick framing. (This feels unfair to say because there are some spectacular modern carpenters out there, but. But your basic build quality is fairly low, on average.) However, it is completely possible to slowly build your own timber frame over time in a way that simply isn't possible with a stick frame build that's sitting out in the weather. A friend is about to raise his 12x16 timber frame cabin (it will be used as a workshop) after working nights and weekends for a year+ That time would have passed, anyway. Last I checked, Netflix doesn't pay you to watch it. If you're doing timber framing for yourself on your own time, why worry about the "labor cost?" Each year on December 23, Scott's Law Day is observed throughout the State as a day to honor public safety workers and to remind motorists to slow down, change lanes away from a stationary authorized emergency vehicle, and proceed with due regard to safety and traffic conditions.
