A 22-year-old woman, an IIT graduate and the daughter... of a senior bureaucrat, was found dead at her home in southeast Delhi's East of Kailash area. Police said she was raped before being strangled to death with a phone charger. She was alone at home at the time of the incident. There were no signs of forced entry. Police have arrested a 19-year-old domestic help, Rahul, who had worked at the house and was dismissed over a month ago. "Investigations revealed that he used to play online games and would borrow money from other servants in the vicinity, or from domestic staff working in nearby households, without ever repaying them. This is why he was fired," Joint Commissioner of Police Vijay Kumar said. He was arrested from a hotel in the Dwarka area, where he had been hiding. He is being charged with rape, murder and robbery, police said. Rahul was seen in CCTV footage leaving the victim's residence at 6:28 am, police said. According to police, the woman was found by her family members inside the house under suspicious circumstances, after which the authorities were alerted. The victim had completed her schooling at DPS RK Puram and later graduated from IIT Delhi. She was preparing for the UPSC examination. She was also a dancer and had won several awards in dance competitions. Her elder brother holds a senior position in a multinational company, and her mother is a doctor. When police reached Rahul's residence in Alwar, they found that he had previously been involved in a sexual harassment case. Police said the accused arrived in Delhi from Alwar the previous night and is suspected to have entered the house using a spare key. The incident occurred on Thursday morning when the Chief Minister’s convoy was proceeding from his residence in Neelankarai to the Secretariat. More than 100 people had gathered near the inner entrance gate hoping to meet the Chief Minister. Among them were Rajesh Kannan (50), his wife Anandhi (43), and relatives of their son Akash Delison. They sought to submit a petition alleging that Akash had died in police custody within the limits of Manamadurai police station in March this year. They claimed a case had been registered against six police personnel, but no action had been taken and sought transfer of the investigation to CB-CID. As the group crossed the barricades and entered the road, police personnel deployed for convoy security stopped them. Constable Muthuganesh of Tambaram City Armed Reserve, who was part of the lead vehicle, fell while intervening and suffered an abrasion on his left elbow. Police said Rajesh Kannan crossed the barricade after breaching the security and ran towards the convoy. Constable Ramkumar of Tondiarpet police station attempted to stop him, following which Kannan punched the constable in the chest, police said. Ramkumar later complained of chest pain and was rushed to govt hospital for first aid. The convoy reached the Secretariat portico at 10:02 am. The IDF says it also received a report of several Israelis who "vandalized a cemetery" in the Nablus area. The settlers also passed through the outskirts of Tell during their hike. The hike, though areas A and B of the West Bank -- normally off limits to Israeli civilians -- was not approved by the army, but the military says troops "had been deployed in advance in the area ahead of the Israelis' arrival, were dispatched to disperse the gathering and worked to remove the civilians from the area." All of the Israelis eventually left the Nablus area, according to the army. The IDF says that later, Palestinians hurled stones at troops in the area, and the soldiers opened fire at a "main instigator."
