Kaspa comes close to a $1 billion market cap... after a 17% day kaspa:native traded near $0.0359 on Monday, up around 30% across the week. The market cap currently sits at $994.5M, and volume rose to $50.12M, up almost 500% on the day. Most KAS coins are already in circulation, 27.68B of a 28.7B maximum, setting the fully diluted value at $1.03B.show more

Kaspa nodes get a security tune-up Kaspa v2.1.0 is... out, and all node, mining and infrastructure operators are urged to upgrade. New nodes now sync in 20 MiB chunks to avoid timeouts. The kaspa:native release also cuts the biggest allowed network message from 1 GB to 256 MB to blunt spam attacks, and patches a security hole in its mining connection tool.show more

Kaspa's Toccata hard fork is live on mainnet kaspa:native... just hard forked. Toccata activated on mainnet today, the biggest upgrade in Kaspa's history. It turns a high-speed payments chain into a programmable Layer 1: native tokens, covenants, and zero-knowledge proof verification at the base layer. Toccata lays the groundwork, it doesn't ship the apps. The race now is what gets built on top.show more

Kaspa's market cap passes $1 billion after a 25%... week kaspa:native traded at $0.03714 today, up 4% on the day and more than 25% over the week, bringing the market cap to $1.02B. Volume reached $31.84M, up 118.93% on the day, which equals 3.08% of the market cap. Circulating supply is 27.69B out of a 28.7B max supply, which puts the fully diluted value at $1.06B.show more

Why does Ethereum's whitepaper name the mind behind Kaspa?... Yonatan Sompolinsky (Yonatan Sompolinsky) and Aviv Zohar (Aviv Zohar) introduced GHOST in December 2013. It counts stale blocks, valid blocks that lose the race onto the main chain, toward security instead of wasting them. The Ethereum whitepaper credits both men by name. Ethereum ran only a simplified version, and a later note added to the paper says it never fully applied GHOST. Sompolinsky pushed the idea further with GHOSTDAG, co-written with Shai Wyborski and Zohar. It lets parallel blocks coexist and orders them all, discarding none. GHOSTDAG powers #Kaspa (kaspa:native), which launched on November 7, 2021.show more

Toccata put covenants and zero-knowledge verification on Kaspa mainnet... ahead of vProgs. Toccata activated on #Kaspa's mainnet on June 30 at DAA score 474,165,565. It lets a kaspa:native UTXO carry application state and requires each spend to produce a valid successor. A vProg, short for verifiable program, would run app logic off-chain and post a zero-knowledge proof for base-layer nodes to check. Kaspa's docs call vprogs an evolving Rust repo, "not yet a stable external developer API," with Silverscript the main covenant authoring path. Core developer Michael Sutton (Michael Sutton) called it a step toward "synchronously composable verifiable programs."show more

Kaspa prices transactions by how much permanent storage they... create A dust attack once flooded #Kaspa with tiny coin fragments that every full node must store forever. Unlike old blocks, which nodes can discard, these coin records never expire. KIP-9, a protocol rule co-authored by Kaspa's Michael Sutton, was the answer. Every transaction is charged on two scales, computation and storage, and pays whichever is higher. The storage charge climbs when value is split into small, scattered outputs, and falls to zero when coins merge into fewer equal ones. The result makes ledger bloat slow or expensive. Per the KIP's analysis, wasting 50GB of node storage in one day requires a budget of 125 million kaspa:native. On 100,000 KAS, it would take 750 years.show more

Kaspa nodes delete most of the chain's history by... design Bitcoin nodes store and replay every block back to 2009. #Kaspa takes the opposite approach: nodes keep only recent blocks and discard everything older than a cutoff known as the pruning point. Since the Crescendo upgrade took block production from 1 to 10 per second, that window covers roughly 30 hours of history, down from 50 before, per the official Rusty Kaspa release notes. New nodes sync from the pruning point rather than from the chain's first block. Operators who want a longer archive can set a retention period of at least two days. Every node still keeps the full ledger of unspent coins, so kaspa:native balances stay verifiable without the deleted history.show more

Kaspa's Toccata upgrade is seeing real use seven weeks... after activation Seven weeks after Kaspa's Toccata hard fork, the upgrade's new machinery is in visible use. Kaspalytics counts 1,196 covenant-creating transactions in the past 24 hours, with over 2,700 covenant outputs created, programmable spending rules now running natively on kaspa:native L1. The ZK side is earlier-stage: just 9 ZK precompile transactions in the same window, split between Groth16 and R0Succinct proof verifications. The clearest adoption signal sits on layer 2. Igra, the EVM-compatible L2 anchored to Kaspa, logged around 54,000 transactions in 24 hours, dwarfing every other protocol on the network, with KRC inscriptions a distant second near 1,900. Miners have moved on cleanly too: 86% of recent blocks come from node version 2.0.1, the post-Toccata release, suggesting the consensus change has settled without a lingering split.show more
