Piers Morgan, look at me, standing proudly in my... Welsh cilt (and yes, there’s no “k” in the Welsh alphabet). I a Pakistani Muslim brown man was there, simply because he loves the country that has given him opportunity, stability, and a future? Is it wrong to be proud of my adopted British culture and values? Is it wrong to say I love the UK and want the best for it? So why worry about how many attended but look at the reason why we were there. Loving your country does not make you extreme. Wanting strong British values does not make you hateful. Being a patriot does not make you a racist. I am proud of where I come from and I am proud of the country I now call home.show more

So... Vertical tabs are out in Chrome. I thought... it would make me switch back to it, I really thought it was the one thing I needed in Chrome. I currently use Dia , but here's the thing. In comparison, the implementation of vertical tabs in Chrome is just awful. It barely changed since I saw it in beta. I thought it would greatly improve during the beta phase, but it did not. So here's everything I dislike about it compared to Dia: 1. It's super laggy. 2. When collapsed, the sidebar moves down, meaning the position of the expand/collapse button shifts down too, making it much harder to find. (I ironically couldn't find the first few seconds of the video specifically because of that) 3. No keyboard shortcut to expand/collapse. 4. Collapsed doesn't move the tabs out of view, they are just tiny. 5. The amount of tabs per line in the grid of pinned tabs is not adjusted depending on the number of tabs. 6. In collapsed mode, all the pinned tabs are now in a column, which can push the actual tabs quite far down. ----- It's just awful. It was built into Chrome as a way to just say "hey we also have vertical tabs!" But the UX is simply awful. This has to be the worst implementation of vertical tabs I've seen so far yet, sadly. For comparison, I'm also showing how Dia handles vertical tabs.show more

I had two ideas for this post: 1. The... LGM-1 preserves the round by not killing the last zombie. This is an AMAZING quality of life change, especially since one of the last steps of the quest involved shooting the Wonder Weapon, and this is a brilliant detail that I am so happy they thought about. 2. The LGM-1 is so bad, it can't even kill one zombie!show more

Started using React Native two days ago and immediately... fell down a tab-bar rabbit hole. I’d seen Instagram and Revolut collapse their tab bars on scroll while keeping every icon visible. I wanted that without giving up real iOS Liquid Glass. Turns out iOS 26’s public API can’t express that state. UITabBarMinimizeBehavior is an enum of when, not what. With onScrollDown, UIKit minimizes the bar to the active tab alone. There’s no parameter controlling what survives. So most implementations rebuild the visible bar as a custom component. Some use genuine glass materials, but the real UITabBar is gone and with it, the native selection capsule: that little blob that moves like a drop of water between tabs. You can reproduce it with separate springs on the leading and trailing edges. I didn’t want a reproduction. I wanted UIKit’s. Then I remembered a Flutter app i built some months back which uses cupertino_native. Flutter runs the app while a platform-view bridge renders a real UIKit UITabBar. Finding expo-glass-tabs clarified the compact geometry I wanted. The two ideas clicked: why not bridge a real UITabBar into React Native? Here’s the trick: a standalone UITabBar has no UITabBarController managing it, so Apple’s minimization rule never applies. That means I can control its frame and items myself. Expo Router still owns navigation and screen lifecycle. React Native detects scroll direction. Swift removes and restores the real item labels, recentres the icons and animates the native bar’s size. All five icons remain visible. The result keeps Apple’s Liquid Glass, water-drop capsule, hit testing and accessibility, while adding a compact state its public API doesn’t provide. One gotcha tho: detaching the bar means reimplementing everything the controller previously gave you for free. Active-tab reselect scrolling was one exampleshow more

I will never register my car again. That is... me donating it to the state to own and control it. What does that mean? What if someone gets a lien against me? They can go to the state and find out what I own and take it. I volunteered for that. When I register my car, I am volunteering to be taxed. What is that tax money buying me? Nothing. It doesn't make me a better driver. It doesn't decide if I speed or not. The origin of the registration was to track the car in case of theft. But now we have flock cameras tracking every move we make. They are creating heat maps of us. So if I have not registered, driving it is "illegal" by the municipality. But when I pay them, it's no longer illegal. Does that make sense to you? State vehicle registration primarily buys you the legal ability to operate that vehicle on public roads without immediate citations, impoundment, or other enforcement actions. I made a nice little customization to the Rigify... rig. Rigify has a setting to switch between "toe-tip roll" and "toe on the ground" ... but it's a property. To bring it to the viewport I set a driver to switch between the two states by scaling of the heel control. Then I created some shapekeys for the shape of the control to make it reflect the state of the foot. Also, there is a dot on the shape which is controlled by another shapekey. The dot is big only when the toe is fully down or fully up, otherwise it's tiny. #b3d #rigify #rigtipshow more
