This is called “race to sleep,” and it is not a lazy trick. macOS and Linux already do similar things. CPU utilization does not spike the same way, so this is not your PC suddenly working harder forever. It is a short frequency burst to make Windows feel more responsive. Microsoft's new Outlook takes more than 10 seconds to... open an email via notifications, while Outlook Classic opens instantly on Windows 11! The funniest part? If I ignore the notification, open Outlook manually, find the email myself, and click it, I can finish faster than the notification flow. It's all because Outlook for Windows is literally Microsoft Edge running Outlook .com in a browser window. New Outlook runs through WebView2 with around 10 separate processes: GPU process, service worker, utility processes, manager, and more. It uses roughly 490MB to 636MB RAM while idle, compared to Outlook Classic sitting around 117MB to 148MB. CPU usage is also worse: around 4% idle on new Outlook versus under 1% on Classic in my testing. I've been testing out Windows 11's new Haptic Signals... feature on compatible hardware, and I think I love it. I'm someone who yearns for small UX details like this, and I'm so happy to see Microsoft leaning into subtle but quality UX implementations like haptics across the Windows Shell. These new Haptic Signals provide a subtle bump when interacting with certain UI elements and actions, such as snapping app windows or dragging files in File Explorer. The feedback response feels great and intentional, and makes using the OS feel more satisfying. There's still room for improvement, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't impressed with this first implementation. It's only supported on a handful of devices for now, but that should change over time. I've always loved the haptic feedback layered throughout Google Pixel phones, and now Windows is getting its own version of it. More UX niceties like this, please!show more

May be the most difficult hurdle for a wrestler... to clear—trusting that the same offense that built the lead is what protects it. "no Shah, No regime, No Mullah" Mullah is a religious leader so possibly referring to the current leader and not a king like Pahlavi Timeline appears to be - anti-Khameini protestors try to rip signs off his vehicle and are bashing on the windows and eventually his passenger side window is broken - guy in uhaul then stutterstops forward into the crowd, eventually accelerating further, then stuttering again, then full stopping down the road - there is a man surfing on top of the uhaul in the 3rd video, below I have posted another video showing the man on top of the uhaul trying to take the posters off the side, so he is likely part of the anti-Khameini protestors - uhaul driver is taken into custody by police is this a case of police not having the street sufficiently blocked off and so a guy was able to get a uhaul in here? He should not have been able to drive a uhaul this close to a massive protest crowd There are a lot of people saying this is a terrorist attack, it is possible it could be one but I don't think there's enough information to accurately assert that at this time The chronology of events also shows it is possible that the driver was in fear of his life since protestors were banging on the uhaul, windows, and removing signs+ eventually breaking his window Whatever turns out to be the actual case, it is an unfortunate event and as of right now a seeming silver lining is that no deaths have been reportedshow more
