My husband and I adopted a 10.5 year old... dog. Not because we were looking for another dog, but because she sat at the shelter for 3 months without a single person inquiring about her or meeting her and we didn’t want her dying alone. She wasn’t with a rescue but people in the rescue community were networking her because she was the sweetest and was every shelter volunteer’s favorite dog. They would even let her hang out in the office with them. I heard about her and the next day we went to meet her and adopted her. She was covered in ticks when we brought her home, and it took a lot of vet visits, treatments, trial and error, and patience to finally heal her from it. There were moments where it felt overwhelming, but she was worth every bit of effort. We weren’t sure how long she would live but we didn’t care, because it wasn’t about us, it was about her. Thankfully she was with us for three years and passed just two months ago at 13.5 years old, which is ancient. She was an amazing dog and I loved her just as much as all my other dogs. A year and a day ago, I lost a... very special friend. What started through Make-A-Wish became a friendship I’ll always treasure. Daily, I would get a video or text from her and her friends…She brought so much joy into my life, and I miss hearing from her. I have yet to break the habit of waiting for a video from her. They truly made me smile. When I learned she wasn’t doing well, I got on a plane to Minnesota to be with her. She passed while I was in the air. Her family showed me a kindness I’ll never forget by letting me say goodbye. They also gave me her favorite blanket and the journal she kept about our time together. I genuinely cannot understand how someone can watch this... story and still stand there, looking at two women, and somehow decide that the wrong one is the victim. On one side, you have a girl (Yıldız) who has been mistreated her entire life. Her right to study was taken from her. She was pushed into a marriage at a very young age just imagine being six, seven, eight years old, living in fear of being tied to someone you don’t even know. She lived her life, fell in love, went out, made choices and no one questioned her, no one controlled her. And then what did she do? So long long day. I don’t even know where... to start and gonna keep it as minimal as I can as I am just exhausted. She had a scare about 4 hours ago where she stopped responding, or reacting to us, was unable to reply or acknowledge us. It’s been a very stressful day for her, on top of the extubation, heat from the Cpap mask was also bothering her a lot. We had a moment of her might having a stroke, her left side started to not be as mobile, they went and did a CT scan, and EEG, did not see any major signs, but wanted to do a MRI also to fully look and rule anything out. They did not show any brain bleed or any major things but did find some irregularly on the right side, seemed minor and didn’t seem like a stroke. They are going to review that and get back to us in the morning/early after noon. Right now she is in a stable place, her numbers are looking fine, and she is still breathing on her own with the mask. We ( me and dad ) are thinking she had a panic attack which could have caused this since her day was so hectic. Please continue to pray for her well being and recovery, that any scary things stay away and that her breathing is strong enough to continue without a breathing tube.
