The house doesn't always win. Four anecdotes in which... "I was there" when game companies got fleeced. Thrice by individuals, once by their own publisher. First, id Software and our non-network code. John Carmack told me that while our game worked great on a network, they had hired a guy to do the code over dial-up internet. He lived out-of-state (IIRC, California). I was told that he was a brilliant programmer, and that his current boss knew he was coding for id as a side gig. AND that when he finished his current project, he'd leave his company and come work for id Software. 1/8show more

He stopped eating on Tuesday. By Friday, he couldn't... stand up. I've had BEAR for 9 years. He was there when my marriage fell apart. He was there when I lost my job. He was there every single morning, at the door, tail going crazy, like I was the most important person in the world. And then one day… he just laid down and didn't get back up. But COOPER never left his side. Not once. For three days straight, that goofy, food-obsessed Labrador sat pressed against him on that cold driveway. No treats could move him. Nothing. I didn't teach him that. Nobody did. The vet said BEAR had a severe infection. It was close. It was really, really close. But I think COOPER knew something we didn't. I think he was telling BEAR — not yet. Stay. If your dog has ever been your whole heart, drop a ❤️ below. I need to know I'm not alone in thisshow more

Lebron is PISSED at the refs tonight: "I'm more... pissed off about them kicking Adou out. That was uncalled for and it made no sense. Think that's his first time he's ever been thrown out of a game in his life. I don't think that was warranted. Give him two technicals, the kid just got in the game, that was ridiculous". He knew before I even told him. My husband... was in surgery for 6 hours. I sat in that parking lot with Buddy because I couldn't be inside the waiting room one more minute. The second those doors opened — before I even saw who it was — Buddy was already up, tail going, like he somehow knew. Turns out, it was my husband. Wheeled out, weak, but alive. Buddy waited in that hot car for hours, never barked, never whined. Just watched those doors like his whole world depended on it. Maybe it did. Someone left him here with a note that simply... said: 'Can't keep him anymore." I was driving through a quiet neighborhood when I saw a little French Bulldog sitting beside a cardboard box. He didn't bark. He didn't run He just looked at every passing car like he was waiting for someone to come back. For 20 minutes, he stayed there. hoping. When I finally walked over, he leaned his tiny body against my leg and let out the softest sigh I've ever heard. Some dogs ask for food. Some ask for toys. This one was just asking not to be left behind again. Drop a ❤️ if you believe every dog deserves a second chance.show more

A half eaten apple, the cross that was placed... on their clothes, and their name that was finally carved together. #TicketToHeavenEP4 ☆ That apple reminds me of the apple in Adam and Eve story. It's like a symbolic way of how they gave in to something that was considered as 'forbidden' ☆ The cross. I saw the hesitation in Tanrak's eyes when he took it off. It didn't feel like he removed it simply because he was afraid of losing it. Instead, it was as if guilt was gnawing at him, like if he kept it on, he would feel the heavy weight of God watching him. Taking it off was like the choice to let go of that guilt and judgment ☆ The names on the tree. Carving their names into the tree feels like their permanent vow. As if a physical mark that Tanrak chose Barth, for now. To accompany him, to face the world with him // I genuinely didn't know what they actually trying to convey, it's just my personal point of view when I saw thisshow more

Deion Sanders revealed what he told TCU RB Trey... Sanders during the injury timeout👀 "I walked over to him because he was a kid that wanted to come here. The reason I didn't take him was because he sustained some significant injuries... But I still had love for the kid because he wanted to play for us. So, I went out there and I said, 'Son, now you know if you don't get up, they ain't got a chance. So I want you to get your butt up and get back in this game and be dominant like you've been.' That's what I told him. I wanted the kid to be dominant. His last name's Sanders, first of all, and he was the No. 2 on offense. That's what the conversation was."show more

Ines Garcia went on live some hours ago feeling... so regretful about how she handled her relationship with her ex; "Hey everyone… I need to get this off my chest right now. I left my man thinking that being with Yamal was gonna give me peace and all the wealth I ever wanted. I really thought it was gonna be that soft, easy life, no arguments, no stress, just luxury and vibes. But I was so wrong. He cheated on me. The same man I thought was different turned out to be just like the rest. Now I’m sitting here regretting everything I did. I miss my ex so much it hurts. I keep thinking about how loyal he was, how he really loved me, and I threw it all away for nothing. I even texted him earlier… I told him I’m sorry, that I made the biggest mistake of my life, and that I want us back. I just hope he can forgive me.”show more

This is a guy who shares restaurants and trendy... spots around Busan on IG, and this time he was completely stunned after seeing Taehyung at the BTS concert. "It was my first BTS concert ever, and I was thinking to myself, 'Just how handsome can he be for everyone to make such a big fuss?' While I was waiting for them to appear on screen, V finally came on screen... and he was so handsome that I couldn't even react. How can a person look like that? It wasn't even a matter of being handsome anymore—he was just mysterious and fascinating. The way he smiled was insane... Wow, now I get why people end up becoming fans."show more

Ted Danson Wanted to “Stop Being a Liar” —... But Still Wears a Hairpiece Ted Danson, now 78, recently reflected on the end of Cheers in 1993 and admitted his personal life was in rough shape at the time. “People say, ‘What was it like? What did you do when she was over?’ I said, ‘I had f–ked up my life so much that I didn’t even realize Cheers was over,’” he said on his podcast. Danson added that he “barely knew myself” and was working hard to grow up. “I wanted to stop being a liar,” he said. “I wanted to be emotionally mature. I wanted to change.” (Video: AI) He’s still wearing a hairpiece decades later. That part of the performance never stopped. Still, credit where it’s due — he was open about how messy things got and how determined he was to fix himself once the show wrapped.show more

#PapaBear said “yooo, I didn’t know” b/c I came... in a separate vehicle so I could get in my zone. He was taken to the dressing room & played the whole time according to Zoo. Zoo said he lit up when he started hearing #CowGirl as if he know that’s his mama song & that he loved the fireworks. So I guess he thought he & his dad were just having a fun night out on the town until he saw me coming down those steps. He said it like a TRINI @ that. Just like how I say it. 😧 my goodness, I’m a mama 🙏🏽 #GagCityMilano first slide is up. Another one coming. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🎉🫡🫶🏽show more

Listen I LOVED what I thought Garrett Wilson could... be last year. I was super high on him. I’ve really cooled off from that — BUT I think he could be a ton better than he was last year. The film doesn’t lie. His big plays were realllly good, but there are 15 other targets like these that just make you scratch your head. I wouldn’t be shocked if he has more fun playing with Fields. He looked extremely disinterested all over the tape last year. This is why he wasn’t top 20 for me, he has top 15 talent, but there’s a gap he needs to close.show more

hi! i just looked through the english subs on... the team txt video and there are two subs in particular that i wanted to add a little more context to 1. yeonjun talking about how his most painful moment was when he couldn’t be there in person when they won their first rookie of the year award the subtitles say “my back was injured” but yeonjun actually said he “ruptured his spinal disc” the reason i think this is important is because when the notice first came out in 2019, it said “sudden back pain” and yeonjun also said it was because he had back pain and to find out all these years later that it wasn’t actually ordinary back pain but because his spinal disc ruptured is…🥹 2. the subtitle says “i think this is the most special experience i could ever have in my life” but soobin actually said “even if i live several lives, i think that this is a special experience that i can only have in this lifetime.”show more

IN MY OPINION If Mr. Miles Guo wants to... come out, I do believe that he has an option to make it happen - The question is, why doesn’t he do it ? Once he is released, he will give us an answer in a way that will be unexpected, which may lead to some need more questions while others might fully understand. In my mind, all I knew was that everything he did was because of the NFSC, not just for himself alone. He chose to suffer in order to show that the new Chinese people will be recognized and respected by the whole world. No one knows the detailed outcome of his case more than he does. Up to date, CCP isn’t focused on trying to keep him imprisoned for as long as possible anymore; instead, they are more concerned about how they can face him once he is released.show more

I stepped inside the shelter and asked a question... most people never voice: "Which dog here has been waiting the longest?" eg The woman at the front desk didn't smile or reach for paperwork. She exhaled slowly, as if the weight of that question pressed down on her. "Okay," she said quietly, then grabbed a set of keys and started walking without checking if I was following. We passed the bright, bustling areas first-puppies bouncing with excitement, friendly dogs pressing against gates, that hopeful energy that makes adoption feel easy. But we kept moving. Down a quieter hallway. Somehow colder, even though it was the same building. The lights buzzed overhead I, every sound echoing off the concrete. "Most people don't come back here," she said. Her name tag read Maya. "I figured," I replied. She nodded slightly, as if she'd already known. At the very end, she stopped at a kennel that felt too big for the dog inside. He had that look older dogs get-not small or fragile, just worn down by time. His coat was faded, gray settling around his face. One ear drooped slightly, as if even holding it up had become too much. His eyes were cloudy, but not empty. They were still searching. Not for toys or attention. For something that mattered. Heaned closer to read the card. Max. 16 years old. Pitbull mix. Quiet. Senior. Overlooked. Notes about needing a calm home, soft food, patience-the kind of words shelters use when they're trying to stay neutral while quietly hoping someone will care. Sixteen. For most people, that number feels like a ticking clock. Max didn't try to impress me. No barking. No jumping. He just sat there. Still. Steady. Like he'd already decided he wouldn't beg to be chosen. Maya spoke softly. "He's been passed over more times than I can count." "Why?" I asked, even though I already knew. She glanced at the card. "Because people don't want something that comes with an ending they can already see." That stayed with me. Because it wasn't just about him. We all tend to choose what feels safe. What won't hurt too soon. What doesn't ask too much. But Max wasn't safe. He was real. Maya unlocked the kennel. I expected hesitation-maybe fear. But Max stepped out slowly, like he wasn't sure he was allowed to anymore. He paused, looked at me, and let out a long, quiet breath. Not frustration. Relief. I knelt without thinking. He didn't rush. He moved carefully, like every step mattered. When he reached me, he didn't jump or wag wildly. He simply rested his head against my chest. Not asking. Just... leaning. Like he'd been holding everything in for so long and finally didn't have to anymore. Maya cleared her throat. "He does that sometimes," she said, though her voice wavered. I noticed a folded piece of paper tucked behind his kennel card. "What's that?" I asked. "It came with him," she said softly. "I forget it's there sometimes." I didn't open it yet. Max was still leaning into me, and I didn't want to break the moment. The drive home was quiet. He didn't whine or pace. He curled up beside me like he trusted the motion of the car. At a stoplight, I glanced over-his paws tucked neatly under him, completely still. He wasn't trying to leave. He was trying to stay. When we got home, he stepped inside slowly, taking it all in like he was memorizing it. Then he came over to me. And leaned again. Just contact. Like he needed to know I wouldn't disappear. I finally unfolded the paper. If someone chooses him, please tell him he was a good dog. He wasn't left behind because he wasn't loved. Life just got in the way. Please let him rest somewhere he can feel seen. I read it twice. Then I looked at Max. He had climbed onto the couch, turning in a slow circle before settling down with a soft sigh. I sat beside him and placed my hand near his head. He leaned into it and closed his eyes. And in that moment, something became clear. Max didn't need a new life. He needed peace. " That night, he slept on something soft. No noise. No cold floors. 👇show more

This man went to the gas station because he... was low, when he pulled up, he saw that all the pumps had bags tied around them as if the pumps were out of order. For whatever reason he decided to pump it anyways, and the pumps started going, indicating to him that they do have gas. Could it be that someone was playing a prank, or could it be that they are low on gas or doing maintenance. Either way, would you still try to get gas if you saw this, what if the meter is running and he’s not getting anything at all?show more
