While working on a new video with solutions to... the previous one, I found ChatGPT's new UI struggles even more with concurrent updates: entries lose state and stick around for too long (see video). If this was a LiveView app, we would be getting so much flak.😅 --- I believe part of the problem here is having separate mutate and fetch requests on every deletion. The first fetch is cancelled when the second one comes up, causing items to stick around for longer. Many said yesterday that you could do the mutation and fetch as a single request, but that leads to other problems, such zombie entries. For example, imagine you delete link1 and link2 within a brief period of time. There is no guarantee the deletion order in the database will match the order the client receives the response, so you may end up with this: 1. (client) request to delete link1 sent 2. (client) request to delete link2 sent 3. (server) deletes link1 and loads a new list (includes link2) 4. (server) deletes link2 and loads a new list (no link1 or link2) 5. (client) receives link2 response 6. (client) receives link1 response So if you choose to use the latest response (link1), you brought link2 back to life. If you say you will use the response from the last request, events 3-4 can be swapped, and now you bring link1 back to life. Another way to solve this is by basically not allowing concurrent requests at all but that can affect the user experience drastically in other ways. 🚨Congestion Pricing and NYC’s Self-Inflicted Wound: Are Bus and... Bike Lanes Making Things Worse? As a lifelong New Yorker and daily driver, I’m seeing our city’s streets become more congested, less safe, and now, more costly—all thanks to street design choices that haven’t delivered on their promises. With congestion pricing on the way, drivers will soon have to pay extra for navigating roads that are bottlenecked by bike lanes, bus lanes, and pedestrian plazas. These were meant to relieve traffic and improve safety but have done the opposite. Areas like 6th Avenue, Lower Manhattan, and the West Village have seen car lanes disappear, replaced by underused bike lanes and additional bus lanes, making traffic worse. Parking is now dangerously close to bike lanes, where drivers risk being struck as they exit their vehicles. Meanwhile, bike lanes—used mainly in the warmer months—eat up space all year, adding to traffic problems without a year-round payoff. And for pedestrians, the situation isn’t much better. Crosswalks have become hazardous, with cyclists often ignoring stoplights and pedestrians’ right-of-way. What was meant to be a safer design has instead put walkers in harm’s way. Then there are the pedestrian plazas, such as those in Times Square and along Broadway. Intended as public spaces, they’ve funneled more traffic into surrounding streets and often become gathering points for crime, drug use, and loitering. What was supposed to create safe communal spaces has instead added congestion and security concerns to nearby areas. All this comes at a time when New Yorkers are already stretched thin. Between high taxes, soaring costs, and low wages, most can barely afford to live here. Adding a new congestion fee feels like punishment for a problem we didn’t create. So, what do you think? Today's recap: - Initial prototype of Divine's face was... printed but it had human assistance. - Files are generated from stable diffusion prompt -> NeRF by divine and were based on community sentiment from early sketches she made. - Having divine redesign the 3D file with different Hugging Face models to get better quality. Have not found a great model like our video generator. - Ordered new table for divine's print arm. The table her arm is on is too flimsy. Since Divine's vision system is still clearing customs, if she is not perfectly positioned she can be prone to hit things, like the fume box the printer is in. ETA: 1-2 days for table. 1 week for vision system. - Another part of Divine's coming stream will be attempting to surpass the skills of this AI. - Stacking more content for when the stream goes live, a lot of people were expecting a 24/7 stream, we said this would be a test stream to print the face. The test was a failure. We will try and try again until we are 24/7. If anyone can please try and beat us to doing this, it will help me get it done faster. - TikTok account for divine is growing at 500 follows per day, it is now growing faster than our X account. - Got replies functioning in high quality testing in Discord. 🚨 A HYDROGEN FUEL CELL SUBMARINE DRONE JUST ACHIEVED... WHAT BATTERY-POWERED AUVs HAVE FAILED AT FOR 15 YEARS LONG ENDURANCE, DEEP DEPTH, AND ACOUSTIC STEALTH ALL AT ONCE. The Envoy AUV from Cellula Robotics completed a fully submerged mission covering 2,023 km over 385 hours. Crucially, it did this with a realistic, punishing profile: more than 4,000 turns and maneuvers, not a simple straight-line test. It also operates at depths up to 3,000 meters and produces almost no acoustic signature. Powered by proton exchange membrane (PEM) hydrogen fuel cells, the only byproduct is water. This breaks the long-standing trade-off in autonomous underwater vehicle design where improving one capability (range, depth, or stealth) usually destroys the others. Why this matters: • Battery AUVs have been fundamentally limited by energy density adding more batteries increases weight and drag, which cancels out the gains • Hydrogen fuel cells deliver more than twice the energy density of lithium-ion batteries while enabling true long-endurance missions without frequent surfacing • The vehicle can loiter on the seabed using a suction anchor for days or weeks, dramatically changing operational concepts for pipeline inspection, cable monitoring, and naval surveillance • It is already in the hands of Defence Research and Development Canada The deeper implication: This is more than just an impressive endurance record. It represents a genuine shift in what is possible for persistent, covert subsea operations.
