One UI 8 and 8.5 were so stable, but... One UI 9 is kinda buggy, whether it is on my Galaxy Z Fold8 or this S26 Ultra that I just updated a few hours ago. A small thing (and most of the bugs were just visual), but sometimes it can slow down your daily tasks. For example:show more

This is the PDP-11/83 I've been working on... it's... got a lot of pretty das blinkenlights! It's running 211BSD UNIX that I custom compiled to make it all work. I had to tweak the kernel's idle loop to get the display panel to work, as this setup uses fast PMI (private memory interface) between the RAM and CPU, so the panel can't see it happen unless you cheat a little! The dual floppy unit is wild... a single stepper motor moves the heads on BOTH drives at the same time, so they're like conjoined drives. The bus spans three chassis, which are the three grey boxes. So unlike a PC, you can just "add most slots" and keep going to your heart's content!show more

This video takes you inside the Galaxy Z Fold8's... inner display. The biggest change this year isn't just the crease. It's the overall feel of the display. It looks remarkably similar to a tablet, with the appearance of a rigid panel rather than a flexible one. On many foldables, even the areas away from the crease still show subtle ripples and unevenness, giving away the flexible nature of the screen under certain lighting. The Galaxy Z Fold8 is different. Its entire inner display is exceptionally flat. Once unfolded, it looks and feels much closer to a traditional rigid display than a flexible panel. This is likely thanks to Samsung doubling the thickness of the UTG (Ultra Thin Glass) and reinforcing the display with a titanium support plate. The thicker UTG improves overall rigidity, while the titanium layer provides stronger structural support, resulting in a noticeably flatter display with a more premium, tablet-like viewing experience.show more

Huawei has officially launched the MateBook Pro S with... a new Mechanical Privacy Display. 👀 Huawei says it's a hardware-based privacy display that reduces side-angle visibility to help keep your screen private in public. Based on Huawei's demo, it appears to use a hardware optical approach to narrow the viewing angle, although the company hasn't shared the full technical details. Samsung's Galaxy S26 Ultra takes a different hardware approach with Flex Magic Pixel, an OLED panel technology that electronically controls light direction to achieve a similar privacy effect.show more

Thank you SO much to all our followers, supporters... and fans for all of the love at TsumiCon @ Houston, TX this past weekend!! ❤️❤️ (Long Post Incoming)⬇️ Our hearts are so full and words cannot describe how we are feeling right now 🥹 We are so happy to have met all of you! Thank you for stopping by our booth, hanging out with us, and taking pictures with us. Our group photo session took over an hour (we literally still can’t believe it). To be honest, it was a bit hectic since it was so busy. However, you guys were all so nice and patient and understanding! And even though it lasted over an hour, you guys waited in line just to meet us 🥹. Thank you for purchasing our JolliBaddies posters (we SOLD OUT omg!!🤯)! This is also unbelievable to us. Thank you for going to our panel on Saturday and playing Bingo with us!!! IN THE MAIN PANEL ROOM TOO!!!! We thought that only 20 people would attend and were originally going to be in the smallest room. However, the line for the panel was SO long that Tsumicon staff ended up switching our room from the smallest room to literally the LARGEST panel room!!! Our minds are still blown away by this. In addition, our panel line was SO long that staff had to cut it off because we were at MAX capacity!!!! Once again, thanks again to ALL OF YOU for coming out to Tsumicon and supporting JolliBaddies first public appearance!!! PS: we are sorry if this message is all over the place but our hearts are full and we have so many emotions right now that we can’t put into words. Literally crying happy tears right now as we right this 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹show more

Heads up! Samsung has introduced a very useful upgrade... to the Privacy Display feature on the Galaxy S26 Ultra in One UI 9. For example, if you've enabled Privacy Display only for YouTube, when you minimize the video into Picture in Picture (PiP) and return to the home screen, only the PiP window will remain protected by Privacy Display. Your home screen and other apps will no longer be affected. In previous versions, once Privacy Display was enabled, the entire screen stayed in privacy mode, even after switching to PiP, making it much less flexible. This means One UI 9 finally supports independent Privacy Display for Picture in Picture. It keeps your PiP content private without affecting the rest of the interface, making the feature much more practical than before.show more

Spent a bit more time in Blender 🔶 trying... to do a product vis shot of the Samsung S27 Ultra in 4 colours with a better transition than the last one. Also tried adding a privacy display demo to the notification at the top, but it didn't quite work out as planned. Using the leaked One Ui 9.5 update screen seemed like a good idea at the time to make it more of a genuine concept reproduction but in hindsight, a standard Samsung wallpaper would've worked better. All fun and games. If you use #Blender or work on product vis - feel free to send me some tips. OTOY's OCtane is also a LOT easier to use than Cycles, but maybe that's because I'm used to it.show more

let's talk about Galaxy S23 Ultra One UI 6... Beta2 animation. Here is the video comparison, from which we can find several mistakes. 1. Compared with One UI 5.1, One UI 6 Beta2 gestures are unresponsive. Obviously, 5.1 has started to respond, and 6 beta2 stays in place like a fool. This is the root cause of the slowness you feel. 2. Compared with One UI 5.1, One UI 6 Beta2 animation is very simple, without the effect of wallpaper scaling, it looks very rigid and boring. 3. Compared with One UI 5.1 ,One UI 6 Beta2, there is almost no Gaussian blur effect. This is simply an animation made by elementary school students. It is the lowest-level design of human smartphone animation, and it is a garbage-level work that makes all colleagues laugh. Of course, I think Samsung will definitely change, but he is disgusting now. if beta3 does not change, I will continue to scold.show more

Claude Code Desktop now opens a new window for... each session This makes it much easier to visualize multiple Claude Code agents running in parallel My current stack depends on the task: - Ghostty: when starting a project. Bash commands, git, env variables, provider connections. All manual through the terminal with a Claude panel running alongside. - Claude Code Desktop: once everything is configured. GitHub connected, CLAUDE.md, Skills, subagents and Hooks ready. Claude Code runs on its own, no more terminal setup, just panels running and outputs to review. - VSCode: when I need to review code by hand. I use it less and less, but there are moments where I have to confirm Claude got it right. I usually open the Claude extension inside VSCode, but it lacks most of the CLI features so it's limited Solid update. Worth trying once your workflows are already set up 👇show more

This box holds 300TB with no subscription. Five years... ago, that took a server room. A separate room, a cabinet the height of a person, and an electricity bill visible from space. Now it is one case on a desk. 10 bays for 3.5-inch HDDs. Pull a tray, click a drive in, slide it back. Plus 30TB. Repeat until you reach 300TB. The back panel comes off, and under it sit 2 M.2 slots and a RAM slot. Not a sealed brick, an actual motherboard you service yourself. The NVMe drives hold cache and apps. The HDDs hold the archive. You add RAM the day it starts to matter. Pay for the hardware once, and it is yours. Nobody raises your plan, trims your limits, or locks your access over terms you never read. 300TB with no bill arriving every month. The server room did not disappear. It just fit into one case.show more

Just days apart, President Trump and Kevin O’Leary reached... the EXACT same conclusion about the Democrat Party. One from the State of the Union podium. The other on a CNN panel. Both verdicts unleashed a media firestorm. TRUMP: “Nobody stands up.” “These people are CRAZY!” “I’m telling you, they’re CRAZY!” O’LEARY: “My last word is…you’re all NUTS!” “Like that’s just…that’s it!” Both were mic drop moments, with a singular blunt assessment...the Democrats are too far gone to be saved.show more

A memory like this: I’ve been exploring Liquid Glass... for at least one year now, recreating many versions exactly nine all built with totally different techniques. I came to a realization. iOS 26, at least for me, missed part of the purpose. Liquid Glass is often used as decoration, while refraction could become the core of the user experience. Not an embellishment, but interaction itself. By turning a glass panel, refraction reveals something else: another app, another image, another portal. That’s when it clicked. You look through one image, turn slightly, and suddenly you’re somewhere else. Same moment, different feeling. I really hope Apple takes this approach to the next level.
