The cultural, linguistic, and ethnic identities of these states are under threat, and their people are suffering immensely. The government has been suppressing their demands for autonomy and self-determination for decades, and the situation has only worsened in recent years. The people of Nagaland, for example, have been struggling for their rights since the 1950s. They have been demanding independence from India and the establishment of a sovereign state for themselves. However, the Indian government has responded with brute force, including military operations and human rights abuses. As a result, Nagaland has become 2nd most militarized regions in the world after Jammu Kashmir. Similarly, in Manipur, the government has been suppressing the demands of the people for greater autonomy and self-rule. The state has been placed under the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), which gives the military and the police sweeping powers to arrest, detain, and even kill civilians without any accountability. The people of Manipur have been subjected to extrajudicial killings, torture, and enforced disappearances at the hands of security forces. The situation in southern Indian states is no different. The government has been trying to impose Hindi as the national language and has been suppressing the cultural and linguistic identities of these states. The people have been protesting against this for years, but their voices have been silenced with violence and repression. The Indian government's actions have not only violated the basic human rights of the people in these states, but they have also undermined the very fabric of India's democracy. No one is safe from Hindu extremists. But the world has remained silent on the ongoing atrocities against minorities in India. It's a moment of reflection. At this moment, our peaceful sit-in in Quetta, Balochistan,... is facing a brutal and unjustified crackdown by state security forces. Situation in Northern Kurdistan (Turkey) is spiralling out of... control. Protestors have set up barricades in some neighbourhoods and are clashing with Turkish security forces. Protestors are using fireworks, stones and Molotov cocktails to defend themselves against the Turkish security forces. The protests which have turned into riots have seen a surge of more militant groups and individuals joining the riots such as the HBDH and MAK Some reports claim that the Turkish security have began to use live bullets; until now they mainly relied on rubber bullets and water cannons. During the day Turkish security forces run targeted arrest operations with undercover officers. The situation is very reminiscent of the early stages of scenes we have witnessed from 2014-2016 Dead or wounded individuals on either side could have devastating effects on the level of escalation. RE MAK: The MAK has been active since November 2023, carrying out attacks and other activities on a regular basis. They are a decentralised movement of individuals working together for the cause of liberating Kurdistan. As of now: any claim of them being in coordination with other militant groups such as the TAK, YDGH (though both formerly don’t exist anymore) or the Kurdish workers party (PKK) military wing HPG is wrong.
