Blending between a 32:9 camera with 98.21° FoV and a 16:9 camera with 60° FoV. Viewport is 32:9. Due to FoV scaling being Hor+ by default in UE, at 32:9 they should look identical. btw, Many players say BF recoil control is ez... but I've never seen a even 1 player who can recoil control like me. Many players mistake doing recoil control well cuz they play with stretched res or high FOV, but that's not real. Don't be fooled by the optical illusion, the long range you think is actually not even mid range. This is the concept of "True Aim" I always say. ❓ IS 3I/ATLAS RAPIDLY SPINNING ❓ The short answer?... Of course not. I've been trying to avoid addressing this YouTuber directly because I know the cult will come for my comments, but I'm tired of getting messages about it and seeing people base entire arguments about 3I/ATLAS on this single false premise. Simply put, Ray does not understand what he's looking at in this video (and many others). The changing appearance is due to simple atmospheric distortion. I'll explain below: All light that we observe from the ground here on Earth is subject to atmospheric distortion regardless of the source. Think of how the air looks "wavy" over pavement on a hot day. Same concept. Different sources of light result in different effects (e.g., stars emitting light twinkle, while planetary bodies reflecting light do not), but it is all distorted in one way or another. Now, we know Ray is using a 14" telescope. Depending upon his eyepiece, that means the FOV in his images is likely somewhere between 40 and 90 arcminutes. The current estimated size of the coma of 3I/ATLAS is 2.2 arcminutes. In all likelihood, the visible part of the coma in Ray's images is even smaller than this, but in all of the math I am going to give him the benefit of erring on the side of caution. Why does any of that matter? This means it occupies a tiny fraction of the total FOV of the telescope. Even if we give him the smallest FOV and the largest coma size, it's still a mere 5% of the total image. Now, telescopes do not have a magical optical zoom feature. Any zoom is done digitally with all degradations of quality involved in doing so. This extreme zoom also means that small atmospheric distortions are heavily amplified. So, when Ray captures an image every 60 seconds (or really any interval since he isn't stacking), he is capturing the atmospheric conditions in a slightly different position. Again, think about the "wavy" air above pavement on a hot day and how it is constantly moving. It's the same concept. The Earth's atmosphere is in constant motion. This is what causes the image to look different in every single frame. In fact, you will never find two of Ray's frames that look identical ever. In any video. So let's assume for a minute that you don't believe in atmospheric distortion for whatever conspiratorial reason. Let's examine what he is claiming on its face. In order for you to believe Ray is correct, and his video is actually showing movement of the anti-tail and coma and not simple distortion, this means you have to believe that TENS OF THOUSANDS of kilometers of dust, gas, and other ejecta are simply disappearing and reappearing every few seconds. The anti-tail is an estimated ONE MILLION kilometers long. You would have to believe that a 1 million km long structure is shifted nearly instantaneously without leaving so much as a trail. And this isn't even accounting for the tens of thousands of kilometers of dust and gas randomly disappearing and reappearing from all sides of the coma at random. I don't think Ray is a bad guy and I think he means well. I think he has a super cool rig and was learning how to decipher the images he was capturing when he was suddenly thrust into the spotlight and did the best he could. But enough is enough at this point. 3I/ATLAS is NOT rotating every 60 seconds or whatever other nonsense is being proposed based on Ray's observations. The "scientists" and "PhDs" out there who don't understand simple physics about Earth's atmosphere and the movement of planetary bodies need to quietly see themselves out of the conversation or do some reading and come back more informed. Let me explain what I'm doing here for those... who are interested. I've been building a retro-style D3D12 game engine from scratch, and recently implemented a "Spatial Compression" effect. Essentially its a technique that makes distant geometry appear larger than standard perspective projection would, giving scenes a telephoto compression feel without changing the camera FOV globally (to keep things "normal" when close to the camera). The goal: foreground geometry completely unchanged, objects beyond a configurable start distance progressively scaled up, with a smooth power-curve falloff. The solution: Once the full view-projection transform has been applied, I'm holding 2D screen coordinates. Camera orientation is already resolved at that point, so it's done its job. Scaling those coordinates outward from screen center is a pure 2D operation with no dependency on where the camera is pointing. The scale factor itself is derived from Euclidean world-space distance between the camera and the vertex (not a view-space value, which would rotate with the camera). Combined with the 2D application, both ingredients are fully rotation-invariant. Critically, only the XY screen coordinates are modified. Depth values are left completely untouched, so the depth buffer and any shadow calculations remain correct. I then tried inverting the effect for the opposite in interiors, leading to "Spatial Expansion".show more

Why the character movement in my custom game engine... felt janky and how I fixed it. In a game engine, most often, a character moves using the physics engine. Meaning, the player is not just a coordinate in space but a physical body. It has velocity, it handles collisions, and it interacts with the world. Now, as you might know, physics engines need stability. If you run them at variable framerates, things start breaking. Objects phase through walls or fly off into space because the math becomes unpredictable. This is why most game engines lock their physics loop to a 60Hz fixed rate. But here’s the problem: If you have a high-end system, you don't want to limit it at 60 FPS. That's a waste of good hardware. Now, that said, if the GPU is rendering at 144 FPS but the player's position (physics driven) only updates 60 times a second, it creates a micro-stutter that ruins the "smooth" feel of the game. A good way to fix this is to treat the character as two separate things: 1. The Physics Body (Invisible part): This is the "real" character. It lives in the 60Hz physics world, it moves the player and handles collisions. 2. The Visual Model and Camera (Visible part): This is what the player actually sees. It doesn't care about collisions, its only job is to look nice and smooth at whatever framerate the GPU is pushing. Once you have this separation, you can use interpolation to keep them in sync. Every time the physics clock ticks, you save the previous position of the invisible body before moving it to the new one. Between those ticks, calculate how far we are between the last physics update and the next one. By using this to drive the visible parts of the game, the stutters disappear. The physics loop stays fixed behind the scenes, while the visuals slide smoothly between the snapshots. Example: - Right after a tick: blend_weight= 0.0 (The visual model stays at the old physics position). - Halfway to the next: blend_weight= 0.5 (The visual model slides to the middle point). - Just before the next: blend_weight= 0.9 (The visual model is almost at the new physics position). Pro-Tip A critical mistake I made initially, and one many devs make, is parenting the camera and visible parts directly to the player body. If you do this, the camera inherits the discrete 60Hz physics movement by default. In that setup, interpolation won't work because the camera is "stuck" to the physics clock. For this fix to work you must decouple the camera and visuals from the body and move them separately. Player movement processing in Detis Engine: - fixed_process: Physics runs at 60Hz. Handles collisions and raw movement. - process: Variable rate. Mainly used for player input caching in the player case. - late_process: Variable rate. Handles interpolated camera movement after physics and everything else is done being processed. - render. Submits the final interpolated transforms to the GPU. The test environment in the video is running on an old 2070-based laptop. Hopefully the video compression won't introduce any stutter... I’m sharing this in hopes it helps a fellow dev. Shift your focus around in your FOV, take moments where you aren’t in immediate danger to look around and account for your surroundings; who is present, what’re they doing, where are they going, how can my decision enable us all to make a play. Stats don’t matter and that’s why you see people upset about not being able to annihilate a lone support when they have all abilities available. Is your team currently at a disadvantage in the fight? You probably have one tank and they’re fighting 2. Your engage might be so far from the team that the support makes it back alive and you wasted everyone’s time. Is it close enough to where my team is fighting to provide value? Yes, forcing a C&D bubble on themselves is a bubble not used on frontline or players out of position. I don't get why everyone is hating on this... scene. To me, this scene isn't a problem because what she says at the end is what should really be taken away from the sequence. She says she isn't regretful at all. There's a difference between confessing and accepting one's love and acting on that love. Sure, they both confess their love in ep 28/29, but their convo in their room reveals that while they've overcome one obstacle, they're still struggling with the wall standing between them being intimate. In this scene, what Alya is trying to say is that its ironic Boran's shadow looming over their relationship was cured by his actual presence. That Boran coming back and blaming them, acting all high and mighty helped break down that final barrier between CihAl so that they could be together to act on their love. She doesn't mean they would never have acted on their love, she means they would still be unnecessarily punishing themselves with distance had the zombie not come back. Finally, I think people wouldn’t have had such a problem with this scene had their pillow talk sequence been longer. They brushed over that, which is likely why everyone is so weirded out by this. To me, the best couples are they ones that can talk about the worst of things at the best of times and the best of things at the worst of times. First of all yes all the heroines do have feelings for Saku, yes each of them know that they all have feelings for him and each heroine have a unique relationship with Saku when it comes down to their conversations and how they hang out. I think the biggest difference from other romcom/harem protagonist is Saku himself and how he is aware of all the girls liking him but because of his philosophy (the video i posted shows what Saku thinks about “falling in love”) he chooses not to pursue a relationship with anyone. First, the conclusion: the so called Galaxy Z Fold8... Ultra leak from last night turned out to be a false alarm. After watching the original video over and over again, I'm convinced it isn't a Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra. It's actually the blue version of the Galaxy Z Fold7. Because of the lighting and color temperature, the blue frame appeared black on camera, which led to the confusion. Here are the three biggest clues: 1. The inner display camera cutout is too large. Compared with the official Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra renders, the inner camera hole on the Fold8 Ultra is noticeably smaller. The one in the leaked video is still the larger Fold7-style cutout. 2. The rear camera housing doesn't match. The cylindrical camera housing reflects light with a bright metallic sheen, which is much more consistent with the blue Galaxy Z Fold7 than the black Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra. Some of the hardware details also don't line up. 3. The inner display is still highly reflective. The device in the video shows obvious screen reflections. However, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is the first Fold to feature an anti reflective inner display film. Anyone familiar with Samsung foldables should immediately notice that the reflections don't look like this. Based on these three points, I'm confident the device in the video is a blue Galaxy Z Fold7, not the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra.
