The fire is located on the right-hand side of the southbound 101 freeway at the 23 freeway. Hose lines have been extended, and helicopters are making water drops at the head of the fire. #SandyFire afternoon update: Firefighters on the ground and in... the air continue battling the Sandy Fire in steep, stubborn terrain. The images and video below are from the northeastern portion of the fire near the Sequoia Ave area in Simi Valley. Crews are deploying hose lines and constructing handlines to strengthen containment efforts, while air tankers continue dropping retardant ahead of the fire to slow its spread. Approximately 900 firefighters remain assigned to the incident. #mountainfire update; The fire is currently at 20,596 acres... with 7% containment. There are currently 2,420 personnel on scene, including 378 engines, 20 Water Tenders, 34 Hand Crews, 17 Dozers and 14 helicopters. VCFD is in unified command with CAL FIRE Incident Management Team 5 and we are incredibly grateful for the support of our mutual aid partners. Damage assessment teams are in process of identifying and verifying the number of structures that have been impacted. Our thoughts are with all of members of our local Ventura County community through this devastating incident. The fire is burning in steep, rugged terrain with dry and receptive fuels that continue to challenge containment efforts. Fire activity has decreased due to a decrease in winds over the area. A large animal evacuation center has been established at the Earl Warren Showgrounds in Santa Barbara. A public information hotline has been established. Affected residents can call 805-465-6650 for assistance. Evacuation orders remain in place. Residents are encouraged to visit for the most current evacuation information. Arizona: A great look at the terrain crews and... Fire Managers are working with on the Horton Fire. Full suppression tactics are being used, including firing Ops to box the fire in, which also reduces exposure for resources in the steeps. A community meeting will be held tomorrow in Payson to update the local residents on the fire. It is suspected to be human caused and an investigation continues. #PickettFire UPDATE: Thanks to the hard work being put... in by firefighters, we now have 5% containment on this fire. Another flight from Intel 12 has been ordered to map the fire and provide updated acreage, which will be forthcoming. A priority Friday has been the dozer work on the right flank, an area that's seen active fire. The 15 assigned dozers are greatly aiding in establishing control lines and providing access. They are being supported by aerial firefighting operations to tie in the control lines from Rattlesnake Ridge wrapping around to Sugarloaf Mountain to protect communities that lie further to the east.show more

Oregon: An update from the Pine Mountain Fire in... Deschutes county, multiple crews have arrived on scene including Wolf Creek, Redmond, Lakeview, and Rogue River Hotshots. Multiple aircraft are on scene as well, both fixed winged tankers, with a Type 1 helicopter conducting bucket work. Currently, westerly winds are moving the fire away from the Pine Mountain Observatory, a University of Oregon facility with research grade telescopes. Boots on the ground told me they have decent black to the North from a previous burn, and a fire scar to the east they may be able to tie it into. Last updated acreage still 1,500 acres, but may be larger.show more

This deployment showcases the strength and resilience of the California Master Mutual Aid Agreement, and highlights the importance of emergency resource sharing statewide. 🚨🚨2-ALARM FIRE Tucson Fire was dispatched to a call... of fire nature unknown at 3:37 this afternoon in the 3100 block of East 22nd Street. Engine 3 arrived six minutes later and reported smoke coming from the back door on and eaves of an abandoned AM/PM. A full alarm was called, and crews started to search for the source of the fire. As seen in this video, there was a significant fire event. The roof collapsed, and operations shifted to a defensive mode. At this time, crews are unable to enter the building to extinguish remaining hot spots, and excavators will be used to tear it down. Firefighters were on the roof when it collapsed, but they were uninjured, as was the individual seen in the video. This video highlights the dangers our crews face every time they battle a fire, and we are thankful that everyone is safe. The fire was caused by homeless activity.show more

UPDATE - THREE ALARM FIRE The San Francisco Fire... Department is currently managing a three-alarm structure fire, deploying over 100 firefighters along with various fire apparatus at the scene. We have shifted from an offensive attack to a transitional approach and are now executing a defensive fire attack. This strategy involves utilizing large water hoses from aerial ladder trucks as well as from the ground to extinguish the flames. At this time, there are no reported injuries related to this fire.
