The Lee Fire in Colorado is a monster, now... 58,700+ acres. This fire in Rio Blanco county has caused the closure of Highway 64 this afternoon from county road 7 to county road 5. The fire continues to make large wind fueled runs. The fire also jumped Highway 13 but aviation was able to keep it in check. Crews and fire managers continue to try and slow the progress of the fire before it impacts Meeker, Colorado. Current temps are 90 degrees with 16MPH winds. 🚨🇺🇸 FAST-MOVING WILDFIRE NORTH OF LA FORCES EVACUATIONS Mandatory... evacuation orders have been issued for a wildfire that has already burned 500 acres near Castaic in Los Angeles County. The blaze, called the Hughes Fire, was first reported just before 11 a.m. near Lake Hughes Road and Castaic Lake, according to Cal Fire and Angeles National Forest officials. The fire is spreading quickly due to strong Santa Ana winds and extremely low humidity, with the area under a Red Flag Warning. Fred Fielding of the LA County Fire Department: “This time of year is especially dangerous. It’s been almost 300 days since we’ve had any significant rainfall.” This comes after devastating wildfires earlier this month left 28 people dead and destroyed homes, schools, and churches across Los Angeles County. HAPPENING NOW: A vehicle went over the steep cliff... an estimated 400 to 500 feet down just south of Greyhound State Beach in Santa Cruz County, right off of Highway 1. CAL FIRE, Santa Cruz County Fire, San Mateo County Fire, CAL FIRE SCU, Santa Cruz City Fire, CHP-Santa Cruz, CA State Parks with lifeguards and AMR responded. Two CA State Parks Lifeguards swam from Greyhound State Beach down to the pocket beach where the vehicle was located, found one patient, and administered CPR. CAL FIRE SCU Alma Helitack Copter 614 lowered a hoist basket to the beach and pulled the patient to the highway to the awaiting ambulance. The patient is in critical condition.
