a lot of visual identities fall apart the moment... you remove the logo. so here’s friendly advice I wish someone drilled into me earlier: run every visual identity through the Three-Post Test. What is it? Design three social media posts in the new visual identity. (btw, you can now easily design and export social media assets directly in Framer) Or, design three posters. (a tip that Jessica Strelioff’s also recently shared!) Then, the important step: remove the logo. Now, look at them like a stranger would. If you’re trying to get out of junior design mode — ask yourself: 1. without the logo, do these three posts still obviously belong together? Follow up with: 2. can I easily point to repeating rules (layout, type behavior, spacing, color logic, ...)? 3. could another designer easily continue this system without me in the room? If you answer 1. no 2. nope 3. uhmmm, not sure then you’re in trouble. If the logo disappears and the connection goes with it, that’s your signal: you don’t have a visual system yet, just three nice visual pieces. maybe a very nice logo, too. So, run this test early, save yourself time later.show more

The processional custody of the Cathedral of Toledo, known... mainly as the Custody of Arfe, is one of the absolute masterpieces of universal goldsmithing. Made between 1515 and 1523 by the master silversmith of German origin Enrique de Arfe, it stands out for its imposing late Gothic style structure that reaches three meters in height and exceeds 200 kilos in weight. Its fame lies both in its incalculable material value and technical complexity and in its leading role every year in the famous Corpus Christi procession of Toledo. It contains about 183 kg of pure silver and 18 kg of sterling gold. It is made up of an intricate puzzle of 5,600 individual pieces joined by 12,500 screws.show more

Three people killed, and 15 injured in an explosion... near a summer restaurant terrace in central Moscow on Saturday evening, according to police. The National Anti-Terrorist Committee (NAC) confirms it was a result of a terrlrist attack. The explosion occurred at around 8:00 p.m. by a Stalin-era skyscraper at Kudrinksaya Ploshchad, where an upscale Italian restaurant Balzi Rossi is located. The venue had been closed for a private event. NAC, cited by Interfax, acknowledged that an “unknown woman” attempted to smuggle a “homemade explosive device” into the restaurant. A security guard who tried to stop the woman and one of the patrons were killed along with her. According to Kommersant, “a security guard stopped a woman who was delivering a box to the guests. She said it contained a gift, but the guard, suspecting something was amiss, decided to search her. At that moment, the explosion went off. Apparently, the bomb was detonated remotely.” The bomb, filled with metal balls, had a yield of about one kilogram in TNT equivalent. “The courier was literally blown to pieces; her arm was found on the road about 15 meters from the blast site,” Kommersant writes.
