We joined TMPD at the Phumlani Toll Plaza for... an inspection of vehicles that were headed for cross-boarder festive season travel. We stopped several buses that were headed to Zimbabwe that were carrying dozens of passengers. Vehicles must be roadworthy for the protection of other motorists and passengers. TMPD inspected 48 vehicles that were headed to Zimbabwe and Mozambique. 27 were found to be heavily overload. Additionally, unroadworthy trailers were impounded. The City’s Bad Buildings Committee has returned to Pretoria... Industrial for an illegal electricity disconnection operation. We've arrested an individual who was allegedly posing as a City of Tshwane contractor and was connecting electricity illegally in the area. A fake City of a Tshwane logo was found on their vehicle. We have also impounded the vehicle. Illegal connections endanger lives, damage infrastructure, and undermine service delivery. Residents of Tshwane, 5 suspects, from South Africa and... Zimbabwe, were arrested for stealing electrical cables worth millions of rands at the City’s Forsig Electricity Depot, in Pretoria West. The suspects were arrested by the TMPD Cable Theft Unit who acted swiftly following a tip-off about the robbery. We visited the crime scene this afternoon as Tshwane teams were collecting the stolen cables that were found loaded on a truck near the border of Tshwane and the North West. The second truck was found on route towards Soshanguve. Criminal syndicates continue to test the strength of the City’s security measures. This morning, we joined the City’s Bad Buildings operation... in Proclamation Hill. We inspected a property operating an illegal panel-beating business and discovered approximately 50 alcohol bottles, raising concerns of possible illegal liquor sales. Building Control issued a 21-day notice for unauthorised building structures. Our Energy and Electricity Business Unit removed illegal electricity connections, while our Water and Sanitation Business Unit removed an illegal water connection.
