Why does my cat stalk towards me as though... I am prey? I only caught the tail end of this occurrence in the video, but about once a week I notice my cat (5 months) stalking towards me like this (she typically starts from much farther away and goes even slower). The weirdest part to me is that she only really does it towards me, not my husband. I’ve also seen her stalk prey before and she doesn’t usually continuously move in slow motion like this, she typically walks forward, pauses and assesses for a while, and then goes for the kill. Usually when she does this to me, she ends up snapping out of it due to movement or sound elsewhere, so she’s never pounced or anything - at most she jumps up next to me and then goes back to normal. I’m a new cat owner so this may be typical behavior, but it is so bizarre to me that this behavior seems reserved for me alone - not my husband, not our dog who she loves wrestling with (thanks reddit for clearing that up), and not the bugs she preys on. I was laughing in this video because she was cracking me up, but sometimes it genuinely freaks me out a bit, I feel like prey and I don’t like it 😶 I would love to hear any thoughts on the matter, if nothing else just enjoy this clip of my cat being an apex predator lolshow more

Power Rows 🚂 Underrated exercise to help blow up... your deadlift and make your back jacked AF. Here’s me hitting 315×8- focusing on being as explosive as possible. I’ll typically do these as a secondary exercise on deadlift days, after my main deadlift and hip hinge work. This. Is. Not. OK. Republican Congressman Eli Crane from... Arizona called black people “Colored people” on the House floor yesterday. Crane specifically said, “Mr. Chairman, that was unbelievably inspiring, my amendment has nothing to do with whether or not colored people or black people or anybody can serve. Okay? It has nothing to do with colors of your skin — any of that stuff.” Democrat Congresswoman Joyce Beatty then interjected and asked that Crane’s use of the words “colored people” be stricken from the record. She said “I find it offensive and very inappropriate,” before continuing “I am asking for unanimous consent to take down the words of referring to me or any of my colleague as ‘colored people.’ What causes this? It was obviously a slip-up, but people who slip up like this do so for a reason. If you typically stream with a 3D model, I... highly recommend that you pose your model when you’re not doing full body mocap instead of letting it stay in the stiff generic pose! It makes a huge difference in how your energy is conveyed (ᗒ⩊ᗕ)⸝ި ʕᦏ⌎ I’m only saying this because I noticed this a lot with my own 3D kids, but here’s a comparison showcase: ← default pose & default pendulum physics in Warudo → custom poses & slightly adjusted pendulum physics If you find it hard to pose within Warudo by using bone offsets or none of the existing poses in Warudo vibe with you, you can make your own like me! I made my custom poses in “VRM Posing Desktop” (this is the BEST vrm posing app I’ve ever used in the past 3 years) and exported them as Unity anims then dropped them into Warudo’s animation folder! You can then make a simple blueprint in Warudo to toggle between poses and make your model look more alive! It should fit especially well for just chatting streams 🙂‍↕️✨show more

I'm jumping on the opportunity of our current trip... to Chongqing to do a health test: I do it once a year in China, always with the same company (iKang, which has test centers all over China) and it is the most comprehensive health test you can possibly imagine. As you can see in the videos the place is divided into small rooms, and in each room there's a doctor performing a specific test (blood test room, IRM room, x-ray room, ECG room, etc.). I'll do about 25 rooms this morning, in the space of approximately 2 hours, resulting in me being checked for hundreds of possible health issues (including, for instance, all testable cancers). The market price for this is RMB 8k (about $1200) but like every year I managed to get it at a heavy discount for RMB 2k or about $300 (most people get a discount, I don't think anyone pays the full price). Which considering a visit to a specialist doctor in China typically costs about RMB20, is actually very expensive and shows just how comprehensive this test is. Lastly, public service announcement: everyone should get health tests yearly if they can, especially for high probability issues (like prostate cancer for men), early detection often makes all the difference.show more

The human loaded us into the van just before... 6 this morning. That's ridiculously early for her unless it's a dog Show weekend, which it isn't. Turns out she and the spare human had decided since it's been so hot out, they'd take us to a big off leash area really early in the morning. We don't typically go to many dog parks so we can avoid dogs that might be pushy or rude. And not just to baby rottie Kenji and I! Also our human. You'd be amazed how many dogs will chase her wheelchair tires, or jump all over her because she's seated. Some even try to steal her treats because they're easier to reach. But before 7 the park was pretty much empty. Except for us. And a gazillion mosquitoes. It was great though. So much to sniff, and we had a good run. Kenji practiced his recalls and his giant moose calf legs sprinted back every time! There was still dew on the long grass so we came back a little soggy. It was definitely worth getting up early for! They say a picture is worth a thousand words.... But for your toddler, single words can also convey a whole lot more than you might imagine. As your child’s early language use grows, you can expect to hear a lot of telegraphic speech - one or two word sentences which are typically stripped of grammatical elements. Sentences like “up” (to signify “please pick me up”) or the request “shoe on.” While this telegraphic speech represents a major step forward in language acquisition for children, here’s an important tip: Our most supportive and constructive response as adults may be to treat these early utterances as meaningful… but then extend, rather than repeat them. In other words - rather than replying in kind with “shoe on,” reply with a fully grammatical response. “Oh, yes, if we’re going outside we do need to put your shoes on!” Doing so consistently will provide the types of linguistic models your child needs to continue advancing to more and more sophisticated and grammatical language.
