UIActivityViewController has a private `setCustomViewController:` method that lets you add a custom view as a header. I combined this with a custom view controller transition for the full Photos effect.show more

One UI, including One UI 8.5, has a long-standing... issue with the back gesture: lag. My finger moves, but the animation lags and doesn't follow the finger's response. This puts it behind all other OSes. Comparing One UI 8.5 with vivo's OriginOS5 and OriginOS6 reveals that Samsung's gesture response is the slowest, and I haven't been able to resolve the issue with Home Up. Samsung needs to optimize this. Another problem is that the icons in Samsung's animation are too ugly when they are shrunk. The icons are forcibly stretched to cover the page. Samsung borrowed this from OriginOS 5 at the time, but vivo fixed the problem in OriginOS6, and Samsung One UI 8.5 still has no improvement.show more

One of the reasons I like distillation is because... you can use it to combine the strengths of different models. RADIO from Pavlo Molchanov and the team at nvidia has the smooth, rich feature maps of DINO-v2 and it can read like Siglip / CLIP. RADIO even uses TimDarcet's registers to consolidate global information and keep the spatial features clean! I think we'll see lots more of this approach in the future. Crimson Desert has this surface shader.. It has a... transformative effect on the game visuals and it's seemingly applied to every object in the game. It doesn't look like tessellation, it appears to have artifacts from a screen-space effect. designers love to hate on raw, unfinished things. redesigning... the whole ios/watchos/macos/... ui after a decade is a brutal challenge for any design team! almost impossible to satisfy the expectation. most haters around here have never designed in a large organization like apple and are not aware of challenges such as politcs, opiniated stakeholder, impossible deadlines, the list goes on... i empathise with the ui designers in apple. yes! os26 and liquid glass feels rough at the moment! so did the ios7 at launch. it evolved. this will too. i appreciate the brave direction apple has taken with this liquid glass ui. yes it comes with challenges including readability, compatibility and more... let's stop b*tching about it and contribute to solutionise these challenges.show more
