I always wondered "What if I port my three.js... game to Rust? Will it improve performance?" I finally ported it to both Rust Desktop and Rust WASM (that runs on the browser) Comparing the three.js version with the Rust desktop I had a clear winner: Rust desktop. But now I took the time to port it to the web using Web Assembly (WASM) And my conclusion is... A tie! Both versions averaged 42FPS (60FPS if running one at a time) So if your goal is to ship a web game, it doesn't even matter the tech you use. (Three.js is recommended because the ecossystem is huge though) As long you optmize well (Web workers, reduce triangles, draw calls, etc) you should be good to go. But in the event you want to ship a native game to publish on Steam a system language (Rust, C++, etc) will be better for you. On dolling and my transition, part n. I had... decided to doll today and I had recorded an absolutely wonderful session filled with the passion of someone who has been away from it from a long time. Pressed record and it didn't start. Whoops. The 12 seconds is from when I sat on the remote and the menu came up 🫠 anywayssss Was not a waste of time, I gained insight and new questions, of which I'm very happy with. The nature of each mask has changed for me again. I think I'm reconnecting with the doll side and away from the female mask side a bit. It felt like what I was aiming for with the female mask I could do with makeup. I didn't need it. However... I loved using my Moli 茉莉兔兔 Barbie (and holy shit I want one of the new ones, they look incredible) and my Dreammask Studio Q04 (the very functional silicone doll) and feeling the gags silence and objectify me. I missed that. I loved the snugness. I have yet again hit the confusion of "I don't know exactly who I want to play with (doll? Man? Woman? Trans woman?)" I do want to play though, rest assured. On dysphoria, it assures me that bottom surgery is in my future. That said, holy fuck is it ever a procedure. It will derail my life a great deal when it happens. I dont want to doll without the hips, and I imagine my relationship to it will continue to change. I've been testing out Windows 11's new Haptic Signals... feature on compatible hardware, and I think I love it. I'm someone who yearns for small UX details like this, and I'm so happy to see Microsoft leaning into subtle but quality UX implementations like haptics across the Windows Shell. These new Haptic Signals provide a subtle bump when interacting with certain UI elements and actions, such as snapping app windows or dragging files in File Explorer. The feedback response feels great and intentional, and makes using the OS feel more satisfying. There's still room for improvement, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't impressed with this first implementation. It's only supported on a handful of devices for now, but that should change over time. I've always loved the haptic feedback layered throughout Google Pixel phones, and now Windows is getting its own version of it. More UX niceties like this, please!show more
