📢GeomHair: Reconstruction of Hair Strands from Colorless 3D Scans📢... We present a novel method to reconstruct hair strands from colorless 3D scans by extracting orientation cues directly from the mesh surface geometry by finding local characteristic lines and from shaded renderings using a neural 2D line detector. We enhance the reconstruction with a diffusion prior trained on synthetic hair data and adapted to each scan using a tailored text prompt, allowing us to recover both simple and complex hairstyles without relying on color input. To support further research, we also introduce Strands400, the largest publicly available dataset of 3D hair strand reconstructions from real-world scans of 400 different people, featuring complicated hairstyles, such as ponytails and buns. 🌍 📷 Great work by Rachmadio Noval L. OpenAI's Deep Research is getting a run for its... money. Deep Lake was just released, and it's a different take on an AI system that can do deep research on your own data. You can use Deep Lake to build AI search with reasoning on your private and public data. (Look at the attached videos to get an idea of how it works.) If you want to research proprietary and sensitive data, Deep Research won't help you because it's limited to public data. Deep Lake, however, will allow you to use your private data. On top of that, Deep Lake supports multi-modal retrieval from the ground up. It uses vision language models for data ingestion and retrieval so that you can connect any data (PDFs, images, videos, structured data, etc.) You can even use mixed-data queries! I'll always root for a team that open-sources its... best work, and Robbyant just did it properly. Robbyant, Ant Group's embodied-AI company, released LingBot-Vision, a vision foundation model for robots, and the part I love is the data. They trained it on 161M images, filtered down from 2B raw ones and mostly pulled straight from the open web, with no human labels, no edge detectors, no depth sensors anywhere in the loop. It learns the exact edges of objects from raw pixels. That's roughly a tenth of the data DINOv3 saw, and under a third of the training. And it shows in the results. On depth, working out how far away things are, the 1B model edges out a 7B on NYU-Depth. It also powers LingBot-Depth 2.0, which reads the surfaces cameras usually choke on, glass and mirrors, and halves indoor depth error. LingBot-Vision is fully open. We are releasing the fastest TTS model as open... source! One of the biggest problems we encountered while optimizing TTS models is optimization itself. Since it is LLM-based, even optimizing with VLLM and SgLang libraries is not enough. Additionally, I made the outputs much better with special optimizations for training. The voices you are listening to are results obtained from only 20% of the model training. We trained these outputs on 8xB200 in 24 hours. Even though the dataset includes some low-quality data, the model's output is much better. We will release the code as open source tomorrow.
