Fire with LACoFD in Unified Command have officially closed the Wrightwood Storms incident after confirming there are no ongoing life safety threats and favorable weather is predicted for the future. Fire crews worked throughout the day to assess impacted areas, confirm the safety of the residents, and provided help to transition from response to recovery. Fire Station 14 in Wrightwood, is fully staffed and remains ready to respond to any call for service within the community. We are still pleased to report that only one injury was reported during this event. San Bernardino County Fire and CAL FIRE Partner on... Front Country Fuel Reduction Project SAN BERNARDINO, CA — The San Bernardino County Fire Protection District, assisted by CAL FIRE, began Phase 1 of the North San Bernardino Front Country Fuel Reduction Project. This proactive wildfire mitigation effort is designed to reduce fire risk and improve protection for communities along the northern edge of the City of San Bernardino. The project will establish a 50-foot-wide fuel break extending approximately one mile from Highway 18 west to Devils Canyon. Crews will be removing vegetation and reducing available fuels that could contribute to wildfire growth and spread. Historically, several significant wildfires have originated in this area and threatened homes and neighborhoods throughout North San Bernardino. The construction of this fuel break will help slow the spread of future wildfires, improve firefighter access, and provide an additional layer of protection for residents and property. Work on the project is expected to take approximately one to two weeks to complete. Residents may see firefighting personnel, equipment, and vegetation removal operations occurring throughout the project area during this time. While this project represents an important investment in wildfire preparedness, San Bernardino County Fire reminds residents that the threat of wildfire exists year-round. #mountainfire update; The fire is currently at 20,596 acres... with 7% containment. There are currently 2,420 personnel on scene, including 378 engines, 20 Water Tenders, 34 Hand Crews, 17 Dozers and 14 helicopters. VCFD is in unified command with CAL FIRE Incident Management Team 5 and we are incredibly grateful for the support of our mutual aid partners. Damage assessment teams are in process of identifying and verifying the number of structures that have been impacted. Our thoughts are with all of members of our local Ventura County community through this devastating incident. The fire is burning in steep, rugged terrain with dry and receptive fuels that continue to challenge containment efforts. Fire activity has decreased due to a decrease in winds over the area. Our Air Unit helped ensure the safety of the public by checking for anyone still on or near the trails after the area was closed my Park Police. 🚨🚨2-ALARM FIRE Tucson Fire was dispatched to a call... of fire nature unknown at 3:37 this afternoon in the 3100 block of East 22nd Street. Engine 3 arrived six minutes later and reported smoke coming from the back door on and eaves of an abandoned AM/PM. A full alarm was called, and crews started to search for the source of the fire. As seen in this video, there was a significant fire event. The roof collapsed, and operations shifted to a defensive mode. At this time, crews are unable to enter the building to extinguish remaining hot spots, and excavators will be used to tear it down. Firefighters were on the roof when it collapsed, but they were uninjured, as was the individual seen in the video. This video highlights the dangers our crews face every time they battle a fire, and we are thankful that everyone is safe. The fire was caused by homeless activity.show more

The Library Fire in the area of the Reagan... Library in Simi Valley has been mapped at 8.6 acres. The road to leading to the Reagan Library has now been re-opened. The fire was initially reported at 1:38pm, and approximately 70 firefighters were dispatched to the incident. Multiple units have been now been released from the fire, but some firefighters will be remaining on scene for the next few hours mopping up hot spots and reinforcing control lines. VCFD’s UAS (drone) operators are on scene and surveying the fire footprint from the air to ensure all hotspots are identified and fully extinguished by ground crews. There were no injuries reported, no structures damaged or threatened and no evacuation orders issued. The cause of the fire is under investigation.show more

#uwcnf #BuckBasinFire on the Heber-Kamas Ranger District grew to... approximately 230 acres yesterday. Fire is burning in heavy dead standing fuels in mixed conifer and aspen stands. Resources made some good progess on building an initial anchor point to build off of for future shifts. Air support helped with bucket drops until weather picked up and were unable to continue in the afternoon. The fire is located in Buck Basin 4 to 5 miles northwest of the Currant Creek Reservoir. Red Creek Mountain Road FS080 and Low Pass Road FS106 are closed to the public at this time. Resources on scene: two engines, two Type 2 crews, two Type 1 helicopters, scoopers, water tender and a grader will be assisting the operations today. The cause of the fire has been determined as lightning. Crews were in the area today working on the northern section of the fire. Recently, we hosted a live demonstration of the Ghost-X, an advanced unmanned aircraft system (UAS) designed to expand operational capabilities. This man-portable, autonomous, expeditionary platform allows, extended range and multi -payload adaptability for complex environments. Developed as a dual-use and modular UAS platform, we are exploring the opportunity to adapt this technology for public safety use in partnership with Anduril Industries . Training with this aircraft is scheduled to begin next month. As shown in the video, the aircraft is ruggedized and weather resistant, built to enhance situational awareness and mission flexibility in the challenging conditions we encounter. Eight cars were set on fire with an accelerant in the car park of Nanny's Duleek. The attack seems to have been planned and focused. It is our understanding that three individuals were involved. One of the perpetrators sustained burning to his lower body clothing. He may require medical treatment. In the event that a person presented themselves for attention to doctors, pharmacists, or emergency hospital staff, please immediately notify Gardai. Our business community is anchored by Nanny's in Duleek. Since 2022, It has become one of the top pub restaurants in Meath. The management and staff are shocked by this incident, and it's important that as a community, we continue to support them. In recent years, the Duleek community has made a significant investment in crime prevention measures with our public CCTV, and we have faith in An Garda Síochána ability to identify the perpetrators. Just before 12:30 Monday afternoon, the FDNY responded to... a 4-alarm fire at 44-49 College Point Boulevard in Queens. Tragically, four people lost their lives in this fire. Two other victims were transported to area hospitals in critical condition. During operations, a stairwell collapsed, trapping two of our members. They were transported to area hospitals in stable condition. More than 230 firefighters and EMS personnel responded. “This is a difficult and tragic day. There were several victims in this fire. The Fire Department did an extraordinary job under difficult circumstances, putting this fire out and saving people. I can't thank them enough for their continued efforts and commitment to life safety,” said Fire Commissioner Lillian Bonsignore. “Upon arrival, we had heavy fire on all three floors of this building. There was a victim trapped on the second floor, which our members removed with a portable ladder. As our engine companies were moving in from the first floor and up the stairs to the second floor, the stairs collapsed, and those two members were trapped in the stairs. With additional help, we were able to extricate those members. As all that is happening, other members are performing CPR on the victims in the street,” said Chief of Fire Operations Kevin Woods. The fire was placed under control just before 2:45 p.m. FDNY Fire Marshals are working to determine the cause of the fire.show more

The class action lawsuit alleges that downed power lines that MECO, HECO, HELCO, and HEI owned and operated caused the fire. “The utilities also failed to deenergize their power lines prior to the fire, despite warnings days before that high winds from Hurricane Dora would create "high fire danger." On the day of the fire, the National Weather Service issued a High Wind Warning and Red Flag Warning.” There is still a lot to be determined with this fire, but it’s clear the devastation to the community will be felt for years.
