🚨#BREAKING: Third Avenue Bridge Closed in All Directions Due to Overheating Equipment, Causing it to Become Stuck in the Open Position 📌#Bronx | #NewYork Currently, crews are on the scene actively working on the Third Avenue Bridge, which crosses the Harlem River between the Bronx and Manhattan. The bridge is stuck open due to overheating as most of the metal on the 120-year-old structure has swollen from the high temperatures, which reached 90 degrees on Monday. Neither end of the bridge is in the correct position, preventing alignment with the locking mechanism that allows vehicle traffic to cross. Crews on boats have spent hours spraying water onto the bridge to cool the metal so they can realign it with the road deck. The bridge has caused major traffic jams during the evening commute, and there is currently no word on when it will reopen to traffic.
